It sounds like a change over valve is faulty. U have 2 check over valves 1 on each side of rear wheel wells. Also a change over valve that switches 1 tank to other. I recomend replacing all 3 valves for peace of mind, because when 1 goes the others follow. Hope this is helpful!

Dear cpr007 :

Your Question is in complete . I will try to answer it nonetheless . The gas gauge on your 1985 Jaguar XJ6 is working ?? If you are only getting gasoline from 1 of the 2 gas tanks then your problem possibilites are somewhat simple . Each gas tank holds roughly 12 gallons . One of the 2 fuel pumps is bad/defective or The fuel cross-over switch located on the middle dash panel is bad/defective or you may have a problem with the relay or wiring / ground going to that particular tank . Please note : Jaguars from this era were quite known for their electrical problems . This is a Series 3 Jaguar . Ground on this Car is the positive side (+) Not the (--) side like most American cars .

I hope this info helped you .

Where is the fuel pump on a 1985 jaguar vanden plas?

open the trunk; lift out the liner; on each side are additional smaller covers about 5x10 which after lifting expose the fuel pumps, one for each tank. They are a common problem, especially after sitting for a while. I've taken them apart before and got them working again.

The 1990 XJ6 has been sitting for the last 2 years and now won't start. The engine turns over fine. The dash gages don't seem to operate. I filled the gas tank with 5 gallons of premium gas. HELP!!!

I wish I could give you an instant fix, but I can't. Do you have spark? If so then its either your fuel pump or the CPS, crank position sensor. If no spark then it could be your coil.

MY GAS GAGE ON MY XJ6 95 JAGUAR IS ALWAYS ON EMPTY, I CAN NEVER NHOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE, PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE IT OUT.

Either it is a bad gauge, or more than likely the sensor in you tank is faulty. If you take it to a shop they can hook to it and let you know.
