Will Not Turn Over

Replaced the starter and alternator and still doesnt turn. we tried to turn it over from a jump and still no luck. battery is from june 07. plates could be fried? also i havent changed the plugs and the check engine light has been on since jan. went to autozone to see what the problem was abd it was the plugs. the blazer went out on me in late feb. we looked at the owners manual about unlocking the theftlock because there was a full fuel shutdown and the manual said that the theftlock can stop the truck from starting because of the shutdown. if anyone could help out with some solution it would be greatly appreciated

all fuses are good. how do i check the connection from batt to the fuse box

  • lowcard87 Apr 26, 2009

there is no power now after a couples of days since we jumped it and charged the battery. the wires are connecting to the starter are tight. we chsnged them cause that is what we first initially thought.
i was driving one day and out of nowhere the truck just died.

today we took the battery to get it recharged. it got 12v. it cranked better than it has before. so we had a buddy come over today to do a couple of tests. and he figured that it more than likely is the coil pack. so tomorrow we are going to get that changed. does this sound like it could be the problem?

  • lowcard87 Apr 27, 2009

sorry i meant the distributor not coil pack. but we are going to get the spark plugs changed first before we change the dist.

  • Anonymous Apr 27, 2009

yes back in oct, my check engine light came on and i took it to autozone to get it checked out and they told me it was spark plugs.

we are changing the rotor and cap on the dist.

i have it up and running now. it was the dist. the threads were smoothed - out. replaced it and its good to go. but i still have to replace the head gasket. but i got a buddy doing that for 100$. good deal. along with that he will change the spark plugs since they are the stock ones.

depends ,what was engine code problem, did u have spark, did u check fuel pressure,i need right info to helpand details, why change dist.?is it because its the problem or just to see?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

do u have any power in truck when u turn key,is wires connection at starter ok,why did u change starter and alt.,batt.could be fried! what happened exactly?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

usually with the passlock feature truck will crank but wont start! security light will flash,so im assuming your problem is with main ign. power! isugest ustart by check main fuses in power center box under hood on drivers side fender and connection from batt. to that box!

Ok sounds like you got a bit of a problem. You can go to Autozone and see if your battery is big enough for your vehicle first off. Second the basics; does the vehicle have gas, check your gap on your spark plugs they may be wrong, there is a gap on your spark plug wires as well, if you got the engine code at Autozone it should tell you if your coil packs are wrong. Your problem is probaly a fuel pump. First, try turning your ignition on three times but do not start it until the third time, if it fires, it's probaly a fuel pump. Next, if that does not work, try spraying starting fluid into the throttle body and then turn it over. Take the long t-handle screw off the air horn on top of the air horn but you do not have to take the whole air cleaner assembly away from the air box; just lift it to the side and spray the starting fluid into the throttle body. Do not try to open the throttle body like an old caraberautor float ok. I would also change your fuel filter for safe sake. Now, a fuel pump will cost you around 2 to 3 hundred dollars from an autoparts store. To save some money go to under one hundred dollars dot com and you can get a blazer fuel pump for around 70 to 90 dollars. This may be a coil pack problem and they are very costly so which you the best with this endeavor. I own a 98 blazer and I have done numerous, numerous, jobs to it but it has 280,000 miles so I can not complain. The best of luck to you! I would just try this before going and changing more parts. Cold winter months cause hard to start motors a.k.a. chevy's a real challenge and a bad fuel pump can make it impossible to start.

I have a 2001 1.4 polo playa. It started fine and the following morning nothing. The starter doesnt turn over and does nothing when you turn it, help pls. The battery is fine

If the battery is fine , then it will either be a faulty starter motor or a problem with the ignition switch, did you have the battery checked for Amperage ? if you just were able to power the lights etc this could still mean the battery isn't holding enough charge, another reason for a battery fault would be the alternator not charging at the correct rate, especially at night when using lights, heater if cold , all these will take charge away from battery if alternator fault/drive belt to loose .Have you tried to jump start the vehicle , if it starts with a jump start then definately a problem with the battery/charging system, hope this helps

My car wont start. i turn the key and the car doesnt even try to turn on. the horn and radio works though

Sometimes dirty battery posts cause this issue. Get a wrench, remove the cables from the battery, scrape posts and cables shiny clean and re-install

Have you tried jump starting it? If it will start this way, then either your battery is going bad, or the alternator is not working properly.

If it will not start (not even turn over) with a jump, then the starter may be bad. Good luck...Chris

I have a 98 kia sephia an i cant get it to start and the starter is good but when i turn the key the starter doesnt make any noise

What happens when you try to jump start it? If it starts by jump starting then the problem is in your charging system (alternator or battery).

You should also check the fuses and make sure the starter fuse is good.

My 2007 corolla won't start. When I turn the key in the ignition the starter makes a rapid clicking noise. I?ve tried putting the car in neutral and starting it that way, but had no luck. I?ve also tried...

1st check the main cable to the starter make sure it is clean and tight, disconnect battery first, after that there should be a small wire going to the starter jump that small connector to the main battery cable on the starter (IGNITION OFF) if it cranks you have a wiring or ignition switch problem if not Starter time just make sure you get a very good quality starter some cheap and even lifetime starters are so poorly made that even after you replace them you still have a problem only a bad noise coming from the new starter you just put in.

Car wont start. tried to jump but engine will not

Hi,
There may be another possibility... there are safety switches which would also prevent a switch actuating a starter. If the vehicle is not fully registered in park or neutral, the switch will not allow the starter to work.
Check this first.
If this isn't the case, have the starter pulled and get Autozone to check it for you.
I don't think the alternator's a factor here.
I hope this helps... Good luck.

Car wiil not start while turning key but makes a ticking noise

Obvious choise is a dead battery.

Check your lights, horn (horn often sounds weak or sickly with a dead battery.)

If a dead battery, check the battery terminals for corrosion.

Try charging or jumping the car off. If it starts, take to an auto parts place, most will do a battery/alternator check for free. (Be prepared, they will make you kill the engine, which means you either buy a battery there & replace, or better have cables to jump off and drive somewhere else. on other hand, most will lend you some wore out tools to install the new battery, but their insurance does not allow them to do it for you. )
