Piston rings or valve stem seals. Both will cause excessive oil consumption and smoking. Worst case scenario: head gasket/head/block issues.

It sounds like you could need some new piston rings. when they go bad it causes oil to get by into the combustion chamber and burn when the engine fires.

I have a 98 Volkswagen jetta and white smoke started coming from the exhaust, not sure if put in too much oil,or if its something more serious, like broken gaskets.need advice!

Hello there,
It seems that you may face a problem with your car. Types of
smokes coming out of tail pipe are as follows:
WHITE - Water coolant leaking into engine or Cracked
Cylinder head.
BLUE - Oil leaking in to combustion chambers that is an
Engine problem. Piston Ring faulty
BLACK - Engine is flooded with Gas. Clogged Air Filter
GREY - Trouble in Transmission Fluid. Faulty Vacuum
Modulator.

I have a 2005 dodge neon srt 4, 2.4 L, turbo.I have blue smoke coming from the exhaust and oil on the block. It is losing an excessive amount of oil.

Blue smoke indicates that your engine is burning oil and at for your leak. Might want to perform a complete engine cleaning with a steam cleaner and determine where the oil leak is coming from.

02 dodge strauts, smoke coming from tail pipe

what kind of smoke by that I mean what colour is it and when does is happen under hard acceleration, at idle, when first started, under light acceleration, idling a long time? blue smoke is burning oil, white smoke is burning coolant sometimes accompanied with a sweet smell, black smoke its running rich. those are the basics.

My 2005 gmc canyon just started blowing smoke out tail pipe but it doesnt do it everytime i start it. is this bad?

Possibly a leak in the head gasket. Take out the plugs and see if they are water wet. Run a compression check.

Leaking car and smoking while idling after driven

If smoke comming from tail pipe then the valve seals r leaking if from under the hood then the valve pan seals r leaking on to the exost manafold and thebpil is then burrning off if tail pipe then it means motor work if under the hood then just replace the gaskets for the valve pans and the leaking/smoking should stop

Valve guide seals

Are you saying you have smoke coming out of the tail pipe ? Or is something dripping onto the exhaust pipe and burning ?
If the smoke is coming out of the tail pipe, is it blue, white, or black ?

Van used 2.5 quarts of oil in 1200miles no sign of oil burning or blue smoke at tail pipe. oil light comes on frequently 2004 dodge caravan

If there is no sign of oil consumption, then you have a leak some where. Un-noticed leaks are usually found at the rear main seal and leak as you are driving. If you crawl under the vehicle and closely inspect the area where the engine block meets the transmission you may find evidence of an oil leak.

2004 dodge neon and white smoke

You probably have a bad head gasket.
To verify this see if the coolant is milky or if there is oil in the coolant reservoir. If so you need a new head gasket . If not you have an oil leak into the combustion chamber.

Approx cost for head gasket w/head cut approx $1500 to$ 2000.

If it turns out to be an oil leak into combustion chamber I really can't project . Need to know whats leaking and why.
Good luck

Constant smoke from tail pipe.

If its smoking that bad you should be able to tell if its oil or antifreeze by the smell, stand behind the car as its running, if its white and you smell a sweet smell its antifreeze if its blue and smells like a oil refinery its oil.
