2005 Kia Optima - remote FOB no longer opens doors or anything else after replacement of engine 12 Volt starting battery. FOB batteries are recent and good. Doors work fine from manual door switches. Is this a Remote entry or ETACS module problem? Is it normal to have to reprogram the FOB after just disconnecting the 12 Volt Battery?

SOURCE: Can't get car out of park!!

This may seem like a silly solution but it's worth a try if it gets you out of this jam. I believe the Kia has a safety feature where it won't let you shift the car out of park unless the break peddle is fully depressed. Try stomping on the break peddle while you start the car. Then see if it will let you shift out of park. If this doesn't work try pumping the break peddle a few times and try it again. If this doesn't work check the fuse box. Maybe the fuse for the actuator in the gear shift lever that lets you take it out of park is burnt out. I hope this helps you out.

SOURCE: Kia carnival 2005 not starting - not turning over.

It sounds as thought the starter is bad. many will tell you to use a screw driver to check the starter but I prefer to invest $10 in a remote starter you should be able to get from Auto Zone and checking the starter. This has 2 wires that allow you to basically bypass your ignition switch, except for having it in the run position, to turn the engine over. If your vehicle has an alarm system installed it may have an Anti-theft kill switch which disengages the starting circuit if an attempted theft is detected. Disable the Alarm system and try. Make sure the fuses under the hood and in the interior fuse box are good.

Why does my key fob start my car and open trunk but will not unlock, 2019 Kia Forte

I'm assuming you are using a remote starting system from outside the vehicle? Can you actually get into the vehicle? Press the unlock button and try All the doors. This issue might be a faulty lock mechanism on one door so the other doors might unlock and the faulty one will stay locked. Replace the battery in the fob. A weak fob battery can also cause random issues with locking and starting and the batteries are usually cheap to buy. Next check the fuses for the Door Locks. The fuse will be in the engine bay fuse box. It will be labelled as either 'DOOR LOCK', (20A) or as 'B+', (40A). Try this website for a diagram of which fuse is where.

My 2012 kia optima Fob died i replaced the battery but it still wont work unless i put it in the glovebox just to start the car the buttons on the fob doesnt work i only had the car for 2 months.

There is a possibility that your key fob might lost the programming. I suggest that you re-program your key fob, follow the next steps to re-program it.

Instructions
    • 1 Sit in the vehicle and close all the doors. Insert the key into the ignition.
    • 2 Turn the key to the "Off" position then to the "On" position. Repeat this until the door locks cycle to indicate that the programming mode is activated. End with the ignition key in the "On" position.
    • 3 Press the "Unlock" or "Lock" button on the programmable remote. Listen for the doors to lock or unlock to verify successful programming.
    • 4 Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position. Listen for the door locks to cycle to indicate that you have exited the programming mode.
    • 5 Repeat the above steps to add any additional remotes.

they might have lost their program. A dealership can reprogram the fobs and it should work. But if they constantly loose program it is the remote module. it is located in the dash under the radio. you'll see an antenna coming off it.

Well, it depends on whyyour key fob is not working. It could be that the key fob itself has been damaged by any number of things including getting wet, dropping it, etc. It could be that the key fob just needs a new battery. (This would be maintenance)

On the other hand, it could be that the reciever in the car may have been damaged as a result of the accident. The only way to know for sure is to have your keyless entry system properly diagnosed to find the cause of the key fob not working to open the doors.

The only other suggestion I have is to try your other key fob if you have more than one.
