It's been parked 6 yrs and restored. 3 weeks ago it ran okay, but fuel was bad, so we added new gas and a fuel additive. 3 weeks later it starts runs 5 secs or so, then stalls, stalls immediatly if you add gas. it also shoots out flames from the throttle body. it's a v8. we are stumped please help...john
Alot of people dont know about the pulsater located in the tank attached to the fuel pump. It will fail after age and many additives (any thing with ethonol) like dry gas will cause the seals in it to rot!!! Just replace it or just swap it with a piece of hose. Hope this helps ive had to do it twice (on an 85 & 1991 trans am)
The problem turned out to be the hoes in the tank that hooks the fuel pump to the steel line was cracked and the engine was getting low fuel presser
You must not add gas, you must drain all the gas from the tank and fuel pump and clean the carburator also the spark plugs. then put a new gas.
