I have a 2000 volvo s80 and my rear right door is jammed shut. At first it would only open from the inside, so I opened it and manually pressed in the lock mechanism and now it won't unlock and I can't shut the door. Any suggestions?

Hi chance are the mechanism inside door jamming. Short of forcing off the inner panel in order to clean lubricate etc I find the best way to get this open is to get someone to keep activating your central locking open and shut while you simply keep trying the door handle at the same time and this can some times just catch the latch in just the right position to get the door open ( you dont need to forcefully be pulling on the handle as the latch will either simply click over on the fine spring latch mechanism or not force is not going to help).
Once and if you manage to get door open take off the inner door card panel and oil lubricate mechanism. rather than then shut door simply use a screw driver on latch to test and worth then working back and forth. If still jamming replace latch.
I would open your drivers front door there should be a label inside on the door or the door jam stating what Volvo wants the front and rear tires inflated at follow the manufacturer label inside the door for proper tire inflation.....
I had a similar problem w
recently bought 2003 S80.Several points: 1) Access your locking selonoid
through the trunk interior panel ... loosen a few hex bolts and slide
out for maintenance; 2) I fixed my lock by simply using light
teflon-based oil (like for bike chains). I exercised it a few times and
it works beautifully; 3) Not sure on your model, but gas door on the '03
unlocks when you push the associated release button under the headlight
control switch. It is not designed to unlock w the key (again, check
owners manual for your year). Hope this helps.
master_pre08-04-2007, 09:35 AMYeah,
the fuel door on my 2000 S80 is connected with the door locks. In order
for it to open you have to unlock all the doors to the car.

Thanks
Guys,
I removed the locking mechanism and applied a little silicon graphite
and now it works like a charm.
I don't believe I have seen a Volvo four door hatch-back here in the US, but my guess would be child-proof locks on the rear. Open the front doors and look for any switches on the front edge of the back doors. If there aren't any, check the owner's manual before contacting your dealer.
Sounds like the rear electronic module is malfunctioning. How do you get the trunk open to find out the light is not working? The REM controls all of the functions you describe in your post. If you can get the trunk open then to this:
Disconnect the positive and negative cables from the battery and touch them together for at least 5 minutes. Don't worry, you will not be doing any damage to the car or yourself. Place the cables back onto the battery and then lock and unlock the car. See what happens. If it works then your rear electronic module (REM) needs a software upgrade at your Volvo dealer, about $120 USD.
door handle on the out side has never worked. And my wife moved the child saftey lock to the locked position and closed the door, now we can't open it. How can I move the child saftey lock back to the unlocked position when the door won't open?
