I had the same problem on my 2000 montana, used a scanner to check for abs code and found right front sensor throwing code, checked sensor and found ok, checked harness from sensor to connection under hood and found wiring circut at the plastic clip where harness hooks to sensor was bad, replaced harness from connector to sensor and problem went away

Why does the "service traction system" and "service ABS" light to come on when driving?

The service ABS light on while driving means that the ABS wheel speed sensor is defective or a broken wire that goes to the sensor. You now only have regular braking. This means that you can now lock up one or more wheels with hard braking. Then the car can swerve either left or right while braking hard. The traction control must also rely on the ABS wheel speed sensor to keep both front wheels spinning at the same speed for safety reasons. This prevents loss of control of your car while getting better traction with the tires.

Abs light and traction control light is on

as you know there is an antilock brake electrical problem. traction control is part of the abs system and the lights will come on at the same time. Unfortunately you will need to get the trouble codes from the antilock brake controller. this can only be done with a very expensive scan tool. there are too many possible problems to be guessing. If you go to your local shop they will probably give you the trouble codes for about 75 dollars or less then I could possibly be of more help to you.

2000 buick regal , track light on, anti lock brake light on???

You will need to take it to the GM dealer or any well equipped brake shop and have the system ABS/Traction Control system computer scanned, a fault has occurred in the system and at this time you have no Traction control or Anti-Lock brakes. When the lights were turned on the systems control module stored a code for the fault in the system. The ABS and Traction Control are one in the same system.

Abs and tcs lights on what do they stand for?

ABS stands for anti lock brake system.
TCS stands for traction control system.

I recommend having your abs system diagnosed for faulty sensors, control module, etc. With the abs light on the traction control system is designed to disable because it utilizes the abs system to automatically help control your vehicle in loss of traction situations.

I ve got a kalos 1.4sx 2008 and i ve got problems with the brakes. The brakes ''crunch'' when i m bringing the car to a halt, even on dry roads. The abs warning light has been on a couple of times but...

The Chevrolet/GM autos rely on a Kelsey ABS actuator system that is electronically controlled. I know its hard to describe sounds, but is it possible the crunch is a hum? If the ABS light comes on and goes off after restart it means one of two things. That the ABS controller is going bad or the speed sensors on the wheels have come loose or gone bad. Under your hood there is a fuse compartment that contains the fuse that controls the ABS system on your vehicle. Its a 60 Amp fuse and large.. Look in your owners manual for its location. . Check it with the vehicle OFF to make sure its not blown or cracked. Leave the fuse disconnected and start the car. The ABS light should STAY on as well as the parking brake light. Test your brakes by pressing down on them while the car is in park and not moving.. do you hear the sound. If you DONT hear the sound then the ABS control module is causing the brake pump to work continuously and thus your "noise". YOu can confirm by placing the fuse back in place and then listening to the car about where the drivers door is... do you hear a hum? If so you can leave the fuse disconnected to deactivate the ABS module. The brakes will still function you just WONT have ABS capability. Confirm this with a very slow roll from park or neutral and press brakes to stop. If you dont hear the noise or a hum, reconnect the fuse and take the car for a drive. Turn to the left and right while applying the brake at an intersection.. vehicle in motion slightly. Do you notice that the ABS light or noise occurs turning one way or the other or both? If it comes on during the turn then the ABS sensor in that wheel or both wheels need to be inspected and possibly replaced. Finally, you need to inspect the brake pads for wear..typically however brake pads have WEAR INDICATORS built in and will start to SQUEAL when you apply the brakes telling you time to replace pads. If its a squeal and not a crunch then have pads replaced. Finally, be sure and make sure you dont have any rocks or road debris within the brake area or between teh pads and the rotors. That would be your final area to review for a CRUNCH noise.

Traction control and abs brakes fail light on

this means the ABS/Traction Control system has been diabled and all u have are regualr brakes without any traction control have the dealer or a brake shop test the system, there will be a system fault code that indicates where to look for the problem part or wiring.

ABS/traction control 1998 lincoln towncar

sounds like the brake pads may be metal to metal, that could be the noise problem, but until u have the system tested for the trouble code that is setin the ABS modules memory when the light comes on you are guessing, the Dealer is the only one in most cases that has the scan tool to check ABS trouble codes.

ABS light is on and no traction light is on. I have a Pontiac Grand Prix 2001 gt. Light stays on always. I don't feel a problem with the brakes.

Check around all wheels to make sure the wires going to the wheel are intact and plugged in tightly. I had the same thing on my 2000 G.P. GT, in my case it was just a broken wire to one of the wheels.

2001 S Type Jaguar ABS and Traction Control fault lights on

Hi First I suggest that you get a diagonostic check on ABS system. and then a visual inspection of the brakes. Warped brake rotors do not make noice, but the steering will start to judder when brakes applied at around speeds from 40 up . Possible cause that the vehile picked up something from road such as nylon/ plastic/stone Mike
