Starter relay's are usually incorporated within the starter-motor. The best thing to do is to check if the small wire is actually life when you try to start. In order to find out, wire a 12 volt light-bulb to the small wire and the other end to chassis. This should light up if you turn the key. If it doesn't you most likely got a problem with the ignition switch. Hope this helps in some way.

Most likely the K134 multifunction relay. Not a major expense to fix.

SOURCE: 1998 chevrolet pick up .need relay starter

You need to inspect the small wire that attaches to the starter. At the end where the ring eyelet is is called fusible link and can burn through, yet still look ok to the eye. Test that wire from the eyelet to an area upstream with an ohm meter for continuity. If bad, simply replace with a new piece of the same AWG size from your local parts house.

I have a 1998 cadillac catera...yesterday it was starting & driving fine. i turned it off pulled out a relay fuse, put it back in and now the car wont start..it sounds like it wants to but dosent? can...

It's possible you activated the anti-theft system when you pulled the relay. Look for a security light to confirm this. If that's the case, insert your key into the drivers door and turn as if unlocking the car. If the security light isn't on, you may have inadvertently blown a fuse when replacing the relay.

My radio, trunk and fuel door all work sometimes. Where is the Multifunction relay? I believe the part# 90494163 It is a 2000 Catera Cadillac. Thanks

K134 Multifunction relay is under the dash on the driver side. When sitting in driver seat, above your left ankle, it is located behind a cardboard panel. Replacing cures many problems with the Bose radio, sunroof, gas and trunk releases, fog lights.

if this car has the northstar engine which i think it does then the starter is located under the intakemanifold, you will have to remove the intake and there you will see the starter, relpace intake gaskets when putting back together, hope this helps.

My radio in my 1998 Cadillac Catera works right now only in accessory, the fuse is fine too so I'm wondering if it couldnt be a relay. If so which one?

Most likely not the relay but the ignition switch. With car running, slightly wiggle the ignition key or turn in direction like starting but only a little not enough to engage starter again. Watch the radio for operation/lights on face. If you notice that it momemtarily works then stops when key is released the electrical part of the ignition switch is worn.
