Died. Jumped off. Died again. Jumped off. Wouldn't go in reverse. Ran awhile. Lights all dimmed. Died again. Jumped off again. Died again. Jumped off again. Wouldn't go in drive. Lights dimmed. Died again. Put a new battery in. Wouldn't go in drive again. Needs altenator or transmission?
SOURCE: intermittently car will not start, no starter
This sounds like a problem with the starter motor solenoid.
It could be worn out, binding, or any host of other problems. Remove it, and have a local parts store test it for you, then visually check the solenoid (the store should be able to check it for free).
Testimonial: "Problem is if person who has car is several hundred miles away and does not have means to remove starter. I do not believe auto parts will remove it."
SOURCE: how to change altenator rib belt
there should be an idler pulley that also adjust the tension the tool usually used is a 3\8 or 1\2 ratchet
SOURCE: ok so my check engine
I think all is well, since the alternator has been replaced. Nothing is wrong with the car.
