I have found that when you are going to engauge 4x4 high, it is best to only be going about 3 miles an hour. Not faster, not stopped. It likes some movement to help it mesh. I've had perfect shifts since I started this. Hope it helps. Wade.

SOURCE: i press my clutch and get no resistance and cant

Check fluid level in clutch master cylinder, if fluid is full then bleed clutch system.

If you still have no pedal resistance you will need a new master or slave cylinder for the clutch.

SOURCE: rear brakes dragging on one side 2003 gmc 2500hd

tim, I'm not sure if you have rear disc or drum brakes, but this is usually a caliper or brake cylinder (at the wheel) problem. If you have drum brakes, check for any problems like broken springs on the shoes, which would result in parts floating around, and brakes not releasing properly. The same for disc brakes, make sure nothing has become loose (mounting pins for caliper). If you find it is a brake cyl/caliper problem, you will need to rebuild or replace it. Make sure you bleed the brakes for the entire system (you want to flush out the system to prevent further problems), as old brake fluid can become contaminated (brake fluid absorbs water, which corrodes calipers and brake cylinders, leading to failure of those components). Last, make sure it isn't a parking brake that is not releasing. Parking brake cables corrode from exposure to the elements and can bind up, causing the brakes to drag. Use something like WD-40 on the cables to keep them operating correctly.

I have 2005 gmc 2500hd 4x4 5 speed 6.0 that is stuck in 4th hear but the shifter is in neutral. How do I fix it

5 speed im gonna assume its a standard shift as the auto trans this year only had 4 gears (that I remember) the shifter of the standard shift trans goes into the top (not the side) of the trans , im afraid that I don't know of any way not too have remove the transmission and transfer case out of the truck to repair this , but you may only find the selector fork is broken off inside it once you do

off course if you do decide to remove it these a line of YOU might as well"s that will need to be done too as a 05 is gonna be needing them

GMC 6.0L starter does not engage

To check the starter: key off, transmission in park or neutral, brake set. Pull off the small wire to starter solenoid. Then use a small jumper wire from battery cable post on the starter to the solenoid terminal (can also use a small screwdriver to bridge those terminals). Starter motor should engage the flywheel and spin the engine. If nothing, starter motor or solenoid is bad. If starter works, check for power on the small solenoid wire, with key held in crank. Wire should have power, if not, check start circuit from ignition switch to solenoid-the neutral safety switch is in that circuit.

How do you adjust the shift cable on a 1995 gmc jimmy, wont go into reverse or park.

On the 1995 Jimmy, the shift cable can come loose on the mount on the side of the transmission where the cable meets the trans. When it slips, the alignment goes off and causes the driver to not be able to put the trans into park. If you take a long stick you can push the shift arm on the trans to the park position and your trans will go into park.....what you (and I) really need to know is how to take the shift cable mount apart and reset it.

HI,

Check the relay box under the hood - remove the relay related to parking lights and see if it goes out. If it does, replace the relay.

I've had these go bad in the past and get stuck in the on.

No , it's not a trans module . Do you know how the starting system works ? Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Do you have an know how to use a volt meter ? Going here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams . You need to look an see what all is involved in the starting electrical circuit before guessing as to what the problem is .
Enter your vehicle info - year , make , model and engine size. Then under system click on engine , then under subsystem click starting .Click the search button then the blue link. Looking at the wiring diagram i see IGN E fuse 10amp , the park neutral postion switch , starter relay , IGN A fuse 40 amp . I do not see a trans module , but i do see the PCM -powertrain control module . The PCM has both trans an engine control modules in one box.
The PCM will energize the starter relay if there is no anti-theft system . Do you have a security light lit on the insturment cluster ?

Won't turn over

The whirring sound may be coming from the starter. You can have it tested at Autozone to see whether or not the starter is operational. If it's not the starter, I would try to start the vehicle in another gear other than park or neutral. If it starts, you have a bad Neutral Safety Switch. If this part goes out, it can shut off the starting capabilities.
