First see if you can hear the fuel pump in the tank, then if you can then check for spark at any spark plug also note if cranks slow like low battery voltage as this can and will cause a feed back of voltage to the distributor control module and short it out, if no spark replace the distributor

Excessive resistance in the wire (including breaks or shorts) or the fault is not the wire itself but what feeds that wire its power.Have you run a seperate wire from the battery to feed power to that wire yourself.?Does the car start if you do?

the igniter... if you have no spark 9/10 times it's the problem take Distributor cover off.. turn the crank until you can take the small screw off the rotor.. take the rotor off. and you should be able to see the igniter.. its a small box looking think with 2 or 3 phillips screws going to it with wires.. if there is a burn mark on it.. like it's got hot... it's bad i've replaced hundreds of those for the same problem. but while your in there make sure the rotor and cap is good too..

most common problem with these civics are the rotor and ignitor. i would reccommend starting with a new dist cap, rotor, and ignitor.

Are you sure you have correct timing? its definetly a fule problem, if timing is good then turn your key to the on position and try to listin for the fule pump to prime. While the key is in on position go to fuel rail, there is a valve on fule rail called sharader valve. Get a small screw driver and press valve in to check if car has fule pressure. if pressure is present then it is incorrect timing or possible bad cam sensor.

Have you tried spraying quick start in the intake while cranking? If it tries to fire then it is fuel related, but if not is electrical related.

My 1998 honda civic died when i was driving it. It cranks but dosn't start it also makes a noice at the beginning could it be the fuel pump?

How many miles are on it? Did you have the timing belt changed at 90,000 miles? Is there spark to the spark plugs? Do you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail? A broken timing belt will make the car sound alot different than normal when cranking.

My 1998 honda civic ex. It cranks but Engine does not start . I could not locate the fuel injectors fuse. I openned fuel line and fuel spurt out when it cranking. But I smell no gas at airfilter intake.

How many miles are on it? Have you changed timing belt? Was there any symptoms prior to non starting? Pull a spark plug see if you are getting spark. If not it is probably coilpack on distributor have it tested. Common problem I have had experienced with civics.

My 94 civic just dies while driving. let it sit for like a few minutes then it starts right up again.... car doesn't bog or anything, and I can hear it trying to crank. Crank noise sounds really good, but...

Try your cam/crank position sensor. Normally if its not working properly the tach will not registor when cranking. You should get at least 100rpms while cranking!

89 honda civic swap car wont start

Backfires usually mean it's still out of time, either engine wise, spark wise, or injector wise. I'd pull the cap and inspect the ignition coil if it's that style. Hondas are the easiest cars to get spark plug wires mixed up, even the pros do it every so often. I'd also make sure all your injector connectors aren't swapped around, & definitely check all of your engine grounds. you could also have a bad timing belt tensioner or just be a few teeth off. I always triple check the simple stuff over and over again cuz thats what it usually ends up being... hope this info helps...(subytech1)...

HOW TO RETRIEVE ECU FAULT CODES 94 HONDA CIVIC

Try a honda civic forum online or maybe autozones free auto repair information site online. Check your fuel pressure, spark, timing and air flow meter. When was the last time the car was tuned up? Check air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap+rotor and the ignition timing. Check for loose or corrosion around and or on contact points of wiring ( power, ground, and your spark plug wires if theres any sign of wear or corrosion.) Make sure fuel is fresh and not stale from aging over time.

Starting problem with honda civic

Next things to check are fuel and spark, remove a spark plug and with the wire attached crank the motor, if you see spark in the plug then it's not a spark issue and probably a fuel problem. If there is no spark could be bad plugs or wires, or distrubitor cap. To check fuel remove injector cover and crank motor, if there is no fuel coming out then check fuel filter, fuel pump.

Good Luck
