Blower not working properly

I have a 1997 dodge caravan and I have a problem with the blower. The only time it works is when I first start the van after it has warmed up the blower does not work. If I put my hands up to vents I still have heat just not blowing. What could be the problem? Do I need a new blower motor?

I had a similar problem on a Chrylser vehicle. Check the easy stuff first. Start with the switches. That's where my problem was. I had to take the dash trim off and unscrew the unit and pull it out. The plastic connector on mine was cracked causing it to work intermittently. Good luck on that. Hope this helped you.

If the problem is a lack of air flow from the vents, and you suspect the blower motor is not running at times, you would need to test the blower relay and blower motor for power and ground when it is not working.

Good Evening, on the drivers side below the air cleaner assembly on the frame rail is a blower control relay bolted down to the frame. First off check your fuses and relays for your fan and if those check out ok then I would say since it is a very common replacement part that it would be the culprit. You could also test the fan itself by applying power to the fan. Hope this helps.

01 dodge caravan has heater blower that will not work until the van is up to highway speed.

Does the blower actually start working at speed, or are you merely getting air flow due to your forward motion? Check the fuse for the blower, and the switch. Use a test light to see if you are getting power to the blower motor. Is the ground connection for the motor clean and tight? If you have power, the blower motor may be defective, or something blocking it from spinning.

Trouble shooting blower motor on 1997 dodge gran caravan

Check the heat/ac relay first making sure it is working.remove it clean the contacts and reattach. Then check the Resistor component. It is usually located near the blower or on the blower motor itself. It is attached with a couple of screws and a plug between the blower motor and the wiring. Please vote if this helps you.
