You've done most of the steps I would have so far... Now use a meter and trace the wires backward. Sounds like a broken or chewed up wire along the route backwards. Also try a separate wire with power to see if you can deliver power to those lights. If they work, albeit temporary for the test, you grounds are good. If one works and the other does not, then THAT ONE has a ground loss. In any case, you have it narrowed down, and I would hope that by now you may have your answer. Let us know so we can share our knowledge with other readers. Thank you!

SOURCE: No rear brake light / turn signals on 2001 Chevy Cavalier

The problem is the turn signal/headlight/hazard switch assembly on the steering column which the brake light wiring runs through. The part is easy to change and cost about $50 at most parts stores

SOURCE: No tail lights

Try checking the headlight switch it may have broken contacts in it. Easy fix go to a salvage yard find same make and model truck, swap headlight switches.

SOURCE: No tail lights on 1991 Chevy Silverado. fuse is good

sounds like a broken wire in the harness. look around the bumper area, sometimes along the frame. may have to peel back some tape covering. also if you have a trailer harness look closely at those.

SOURCE: 1986 Toyota Pickup Instrument lights and tail lights out

Even though the relay is activated,I assumed you checked the out put? Also,You checked the voltage at the light sockets? With a meter,or test light ,check the fuse for the cluster lps, adjust them to dim,and to bright, the meter should act accordingly on the fuse.If it does not, replace the dimmer control,or head light switch, witch ever controls them. This may allow continuity to the tail lights as well.If the fuse is dead for the cluster lights, replacing the dimmer control,or head light switch will solve the problem,or,from another fuse ,supply voltage to the cluster lp fuse, one that is only hot with the key on,cause if you do this the dash lights will come on,every time you run the vehicle, day,or night.

Having masive promblem with the tail lights and brake lights

If the metal tail light sockets are held into the tail light housing by screws and the ground wires for the tail lights are also held in place by the same screws. This is the source of your lighting problem, plain and simple bad grounding. It will cause tail lights to flicker , work , or not work. Check the ground wires and socket attachments carefully.

Side lights / tail lights / number plate lights / dash lights not working. all fuses and relays are good. JAG XK8

I would suspect the switch itself,or the wire from it ,as if it were a ground issue i do not expect it to effect the dash. You can usually check by the relay socket(on whatever lighting relay) on pin 1,whether you have 12v or not when you turn on the switch and a constant 12v on another,or fit a jumper lead from the constant 12v to the opposite side(4 pin relay)to test the circuit and operate the lights.

Hope this helps.

Jaguar xk8 auto, won't come out of park

your brake switch, the one that activates rear brake lights has probably failed. Press brakes, have someone see if brake lights turn on, if no then it is a brake light switch problem.
