VW Passat TDI turns but won't start.

2004 VW Passat 130BHP TDI AWX engine. Not starting. Drove car home and parked uphill as normal no problems with car. Went to start it 1 day later and it turns but does not fire/start. Glow plugs are very recent and light does come on. Checked glow plug fuse-OK Tank fuel pump is running.Removed a fuel pipe from fuel filter and turned ignition on and fuel spurted out.Filter has fuel in it too. Sprayed easy start in inlet and it started to sound like it was going to fire up. Tacho needle does respond when cranking. Tried both ignition keys, all lights on dashboard are normal. Any ideas ? Regards Nigel

Have the exact same problem. Need a solution too. Was told it may be the injector seals. How many miles do you have on your car? Over 100000?

2003 VW Passat, epc light, car won't start

It is possible that the timing belt broke when you stopped the car. Check to see if the cam shaft is turning . Look inside the oil filler cap and see if anything is moving as it is being cranked . If not then that will be the reason for no compression as the valves will be bent. Some general mechanics have an overall knowledge but generally lack specific knowledge for specific vehicles. An accredited VW service centre would be preferable but there are V W accredited shops that specialise in your car that generally employ V W trained mechanics so the choice is yours.

2004 vw Passat TDI 130bhp not starting after >8hrs

simplest answer first, and this does not apply to a hot engine,The engine heaters work from a time switch on the door(would you believe)and the routine is, open door, climb in,put on belt, put key in ignition and turn on when orange light goes out.this allows the cold start heaters time to work(about 20 secs).sounds a pain but the number of times this has been all it is,when you put key in ignition, the fuel pump charges the system.hence the squirt noise, also the car has to reccognise the key(immobiliser system)also try using wynns/redexe to clean injectors...

First guess is that your battery is worn out, a new one will probably do the trick

This morning it was very difficult to start my 03 Passat

VAG suffer greatly with a signal failure to ECU that brings the choke on when cold. Your fault is text book of this.

Follow the top radiator hose to where it meet the engine, at that point you will see a sensor, it has 4 wires and is held in by a horseshoe clip. This is the water coolant sensor, replace it and you'll be happy again :o)

2005 VW passat 1.9 TDi "immobiliser activated" on display

There may not be any other way to fix it except to replace your instrument panel. That's where your immobilizer is located. Or you could try this:

Try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery. Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery. No guarantees - I found this info at tdiclub.com.

Vw passat 1.8t battery problem?

Hi

Either your battery has just given up the ghost,........ Is it the original, and now 10 yrs old ?
Or your Alternator is not charging enough, to replenish what is used.

Have battery tested first, if OK, then the alternator belt tension, and alternator for correct output charging rate.

If all these shows no faults, your starter is then suspect.

Good Luck !

A FixYa would be nice thanks !....John.
