Are you asking how to clear the check engine light?
Buy a cheap code reader ( $20 ) plug it in the OBD2 port which has to be no more than 3 feet from the steering column and clear the code(s).
If the check engine light comes right back on after you have cleared the code(s),read the code(s) and correct the problem(s).
code 32 is egr problems pintle stuck or vacuum pack, vacuum hose. to clear code unplug battery for 15 sec and then reconnect it start engine and let it warm up ....see service engine light on if on retrieve code again
Unfortunately there is no way to do it without a scanner unless you want to disconnect your battery which will reset everything. The easiest way to do it FREE is to go to either Advance Auto Part, or Auto Zone and they will reset it for you....FREE!
Only the computer can clear history codes . If the problem was fixed in about 100 ignition cycles the computer will clear this codes . Code reader . will it check Codes in the EBCM - electronic brake control module ? ABS DTC'S
The light has to be reset using a scan tool or code reader. What you are actually doing to turn off the "check engine" or "service engine soon" lamp is clearing the service codes. Disconnecting the battery cable won't clear the codes on most vehicles built after 1994. You should note what the service code[s] are that caused the computer to turn the light on and have those problems repaired othewise the light will come on again after a few drive cycles once the computer sees that the same problems are still there.
You need the interface module and the OBD software to clear the trouble code; clearing the trouble code will then turn off the light. FYI - after clearing the trouble code, you have to drive about 40 -50 miles before the vehicle is ready for inspection test
A scan tool is the only way to reset the SES light. there may be a resean the light is on make sure to record all codes. I would take it back to the tech that serviced the van possibly something was left loose.
You need to have the vehicle scanned or pull the code out with a code reader, and address/fix the code.If you do not repair the problem, you can clear the code, but the service engine light will come right back on.To clear the code, you can disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for at least 20 minutes, then reconnect the battery, but the car is going to be hard to get to idle, because sometimes the computer has to relearn how to idle the engine without stalling.Good luck.
