I have a 1990 dodge w250 and it will only start about three times then it clicks and i have to realign the gears with the flywheel when it does start it makes this awful grinding noise any help would be nice.

The vacuum pump in the Dodge W150-350 Cummins Diesel is integral with the power steering pump on the driver's side of the engine. remove it as one unit from the accessory drive unit. Then you have to press the gear off the shaft to separate the power steering pump from the vacuum pump

Have you checked the line presure? I had one of these that had an internal leak in the vavle body. My tranny buolder pulled his hair out every time i gave it back to him. Good luck

Yes it is threaded and requires a special socket for removal.Channelocks can be used in a pinch but is quite tedious.Many times I have also had the heat the control arm up to get these to unthread.

You have probably fixed it by now, see if you have black smoke and soot coming out the *** end, I am no mechanic but I would see if you have a hole or crack in your air Intake manifold- too much air?- if you do jb weld that ****** -- I think you still have some vacuum lines as well, see if any are sucking like a 3 dollar ******., I am no mechanic- **** I would even check your 10 dollar fuel sending relay maybe it works on initial take off (full power) but then at crusing altitude it backs off and could have corrodid points or something? (that is located in front looks like a plug in) well from one old dodge owner to another Good luck- get a neighbor over there and with a few beers I bet you all could figure it out.

You probably fixed it by now, you have draw on the battery so go to the fuse box and start pulling and putting back in fuses, now IF you have a draw, you will know- when you pull it out and put it back in-- see it will arc, it is supposed to be turned off (ignition) when you do this obviously. Its a good place to start hunting for electrical issues. Check to see if you have a glow plug relay bad as well- I dunno get a nieghbor over with a few beers you guys can probably figure it out. That unit is 4900 pounds. Impressive- now you have a towning compacity of 7000 pounds- I would recamend checking your rear diff for leaks and how old your struts are and if your leaf springs are tired, and check your brakes!! I know with the manual you have more towing compacity but I don't know the total, your post is old- and you probably know by now. Good luck.

Try changing the transmisson fluid and filter and put in a additive for the oil.
