Air suspension went out

The air compressor on my 91 Lincoln Town Car Executive series has gone out and the car is now a "low rider". Can the air suspension system be changed to use regular rear shocks?

you don't have air shocks you have air springs, that can't be bypassed, the problem u have is the air springs have leaks in them, replace them.

All things are possible, it's more how much, not can I these days.
I would contact one or more of the big name auto parts stores and see what shocks and or kits they have to offer.

This way you can decide what solution suits your needs and your budget.

Hope this is of some help.

I got a kit from Strutmasters! I read some of the great reviews about their kits and their service that I thought they must know what their talking about! WELL... Turns out they are right. My Lincoln rides great and I loved the price!

I saved a lot of time, money, and headache by going with their non air conversion kit for my ride. :)

You can defiantly convert from air to springs. I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at the conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. The kits have everything you need to convert from air to coil springs. I posted the link to the land rover section of the website so you can take a look. http://www.strutmasters.com/lincoln-suspension-parts-s/1.htm I hope I was of some help Good Luck!!!

How to repair air suspension on a 2002 lincoln town car executive series

The air pump is usually the first thing to go, especially if the car has been in high water. The air lines going to the shocks are made of plastic and get brittle with age. If you find a crack in one a simple fix would be to cut the line and slip a piece of vacuum hose over it long enough to cover the crack. The air pump is expensive and difficult to get at under the car.

Air Rise Suspension/computer module

my brother in law replaced the air springs on my '94 town car with rear coil springs from a '92 crown vic. He raised the rear tires off the ground and put jack stands on the frame for safety on both sides. Then disconnected the shocks at the lower end and removed the air springs.removed rear tires and used a piece of 2x4 to pry axle down to provide clearance to put coil springs in place. then hooked shocks back up and it worked fine. the only way the coil springs could come out is if the car was upside down and then who cares. This project only cost $ 25.00 Real cheap being we were broke!
