2010 Lacrosse - has square with key inside and says 2 keys programmed on dash lights up when I start it
All lights on dash will light on start up but yours means that you have 2 programmed keys for the vehicle. it is part of the anti theft system. I hope you have both original keys

The flashing key-inside-a-car means the anti-theft system is working properly. On page 84 of the 2009 Prius owners manual, the explanation indicates that a flashing key-inside-a-car is normal, and is desired. It should extinguish when the automobile is operating. It may be distracting, but it's a good thing!!

use a wedge to wedge the door open a lital bit on top and use a strait peice of metal that can bend fairly easy to go down inside of the car and hit the unlock button. or call a tow truck company and they will come out to help for $40 or $50

1998 volvo s40 right hand drive: there is an orange triangle light with green in the center and an upside "y" in the center of the two. It is between the "up orange arrow" and "a an orange car with an X on it" the light comes and stays on. Dont know what it means. can you help. Thanks

This is your security or anti-theft light. Check your owners manual first, but I have reset them on other cars by unhooking the negative battery cable for a minute or two, then using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors a couple of times. I believe your car has a microchip in the key, so make sure nobody tried to start it with a hardware store copy.

These are Security and/or Immobilizer System Indicator symbols used by manufacturers. One of these symbols lights momentarily to indicate that the ignition switch is locked and will need the proper transponder-equipped key to re-start. The vehicle is immobilized otherwise. Green symbols will flash when the vehicle is immobilized. 
If the symbol is visible when the vehicle is on, it indicates a malfunction in the security system. If the engine does not start with the correct key, and the security indicator remains on, the system may have a malfunction. You will need to contact your dealer in either case.589 views
