Where is crank sensor on 2005 PT Cruiser? It absolutely is not above the oil filter as on 01-03 PT's.

REMOVAL - 2.0, 2.4, 2.4L TURBO
The Crankshaft Position Sensor is in the front of the engine block just under the starter motor (CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR LOCATION).

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Raise vehicle and support.
On 2.4L SRT-4 remove the lower inner cooler hose from the metal tube.
Remove the Structural Collar (Structural Collar and Bending Strut-(Automatic Transaxle Equipped) ), refer to the Engine, Structural Collar Removal and Installation section.
Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector to the crankshaft position sensor.
Remove the crankshaft position sensor bolt.
Remove the sensor. Arrow points to sensor in picture.

Labor involved tn replacing camshaft sensor on a 2005 pt cruiser

The cam sensor is very easy to change. The hardest part is getting stuff out of the way so you can see it. It is located on the back (driver's side) of the cylinder head directly above the transmission bell housing and has two 8mm-head bolts in it. It looks like the picture below.

I have a 2008 pt cruiser. The engine light is on

mcdevito75 here, Yes a crankshaft sensor could cause your mentioned problems, the sensor should be located near the Harmonic balancer, you may need a special tool to remove it and if I'm not mistaken the new sensor thakes an adjustment, Have auto zone change this sensor for you, even if you succeed, how often will you change this sensor.

Spit and sputter/2004 PT Cruiser

Check for fire to the coil pack. These have a tendency to go bad on these cars. Could be a cam or crank sensor, these also go bad. If you haven't changed the plugs in 30K, this is due also, wires every 60K. May need to actually get it hooked to a machine to find out for sure.
