You need oxygen socket and 3/8 ratchet wrench.easy way to replace oxygen sensor is to start vechicle let run few minutes just enough to get exhaust system hot so it will make it easier remove oxygen sensor.just remove heat shields disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector then replace oxygen sensor.use penetrating oil let it soak around oxygen sensor for 20 minutes that will help make it easier to remove sensor.

SOURCE: toyota mr2 roadster 2001 engine light on code po141 oxygen sens

bank 1 will be whichever side cylinder 1 of your engine is and bank 2 will be the opposite side. It's named bank 1 and bank 2 so that no matter how the engine is laid out, bank 1 is always on the same side as cylinder 1. I cannot say whether the right hand or the left hand one will be bank 1 as I do not know where your cylinder 1 is. The garage should know

SOURCE: check eng light trouble code PO420 bank 1 on

My 2002 Camry V6 is having some issues. Went in for an oil change that turned into a front struts, springs and mounts job. Then I was having some problem in the higher speeds waiting for the car to shift, so had a tune up done, which meant new spark plugs, and of course, the gasket! So now I am out about 1K and now the check engine light comes on. Had it checked out and and a catalytic code came up. They fiddled with it and got the check engine light off, but now the VSC and TRAC OFF lights are on. What does all this mean? Should I take the plunge and get the cat converter done now?

Toyota Camry is showing a P0038 code after replacing the sensors. Any suggestions please.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from MISC to Toyota Camry.

After replacing the sensors, the code needs to be cleared with a scan tool.

What Does the P0038 Code Mean? Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0038 stands for "HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 2)". Oxygen sensors evaluate the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas and send their readings to the powertrain control module (PCM).Oct 15, 2021

2016 Toyota Camry SE. I'm showing P0136 and P0137 both. Does that mean I need to replace both sensors? top and bottom?

Question edited for clarity, full year MAKER, model.
Question moved to model category.

'Exhaust coming in the car' has no bearing on this. If you have exhaust coming in, you have a hole in the floor or somewhere else!

https://www.google.com/search?q=2016+Toyota+Camry+SE.+P0136

https://www.google.com/search?q=2016+Toyota+Camry+SE.+P0137

These codes are for Sensor 2 on both banks, not an upper and lower. Make sure you use the genuine Denso sensors. Don't go cheap on sensors.

P0137 stands for "Oxygen Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 2).

P0136 definition: H02S2 Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 2, Sensor 2)

This one P0136 suggest a bad wiring connection, not necessarily a bad sensor. It is the heater circuit. Replacing will normally solve.

I had a code 26 so i replaced both 02 sensors on my 95 Toyota Camry and the same code keeps comming back

In that car I have code 26 listed as ""Air/fuel ratio rich". The oxygen sensors are listed as 21 or 27.

26 could indeed be caused by a failed oxygen sensor, but it is more likely to be a stuck cold start injector or a failed coolant temperature sensor.

1998 Toyota Camry replaced O2 sensor reset code and now it is on again

Are you sure the O2 sensor is what is causing the light to come on? Code 21 is Oxygen sensor. Sometimes another fault can cause the computer to think it is the oxygen sensor. Such as when you have a misfire, causing the sensor to read rich, or when the MAP sensor is faulty, causing a rich or lean condition.
Also, did you replace the sensor with a new one? Or second hand? Replacing with a second hand sensor is bad practice as they typically have a service life of 100k miles. If you replaced the sensor with an aftermarket type, it could be the wrong one, thye all have different resistance values for the heating circuit & the computer uses this resistance value to determine if the sensor heating circuit is faulty.

Understanding trouble codes for my vehicles

first the quest, this is common for nissan, replace the knock sensor, this sensor is located under the intake manifold rear of engine, some models you can sneak sensor out without removing the intake, this will take care of that car. now the camry, im guessing this is a 4 cylinder engine, replace the air fuel sensor (oxygen sensor) thats on the exhaust manifold. this will solve that problem. hope this helped.
