Clutch for Opel Frontera 1999 2.2 dti

Hi there. My problem is getting a new clutch for my 1999 2.2 dti Opel Frontera jeep. I got a motor factor's one and that wouldn't fit. The two main dealer's I've asked say they are not sure. There's an X and a Y engine. Do you know what I can do or where I can get a proper answer and /or new clutch? Thanks darren.

SOURCE: New clutch cable made gear change much worse.

Hi,

Had a recent similar problem. Fortunately, my replacement cable is adjustable. As the new cable stretched, I had to take a crowbar to the the throwout lever next to the battery and lever it back while pulling off the cable (towards the battery). I then lifted the fuse box (look out for the 10mm plastic nut that holds it in on the side by the driver's side fender) on the drivers side right in front of the windshield to reach down and pull the cable up enough to reach the adjustor. When it is high enough, release the locknut and turn the adjusting nut upwards about 4 turns (both nuts on my cable were 17mm and a "stubby" is handy but not necessary. Grab the end by the battery and, making sure it is seated on the groove on the transmission, pry the lever again with the crowbar and reseat tg
he cable end in the lever. I have had to readjust the cable twice more before it settled in a comfortableplace, but once you get the hang of it, it only takes about 10 minutes.

Hope this is helpful.

You ever think about replacing your rubber clutch line with a hard line or just replacing the rubber line

SOURCE: clutch will not engage.

You have to bleed the system again they can be a pain in the b@TT, also get a second person to operate the clutch and watch to see if the lever moves, if it does pull off the rubber and make sure you have the Y on the pivot ball inside the transmission. And if you don't get enough throw adjust the clutch rod on the clutch pedal by removing the pin and loosen the lock nut and make it longer by unscrewing the shaft. You want a half inch of free play at the top of the pedal the you want the clutch to catch about 3/4 of the way down. Also if you try to put it in gear does it grind the gears? Also did you put the clutch plate in backwards this is a common mistake even for a pro who gets interrupted by a phone call or a good-looking gal walking by, if ya need more suggestions let me know by posting to this comment.

Hi There my opel corsa gamma 1.6 sport clutch went completely soft and there is a white thing that broke under the clutch, there are not licks whatsoever. What could be the problem?

Could you post photos of the "white thing"? These models use plastic gear linkages to operate the clutch hydraulics. It is possible one of these gears has broken. This means the pedal isn't actually connected to the clutch causing it to go soft.

!991 Jeep Wrangler clutch pedal loses pressure. I have to pump it to get enough pressure to shift. I keep it full of brake fluid. I can see no leaks. Thanks for any help.

leaky slave or master cylinder - if you have someone listen to the slave cylinder while you press the pedal is should "squelch" if there is air in there, if the slave cylinder doesn't make a squelching sound then the master cylinder or a hydraulic line between the two cylinders is leaking - slave cylinder isn't very expensive but the master cylinder can be rather pricey. and any good parts shop or motor-factor can source or make-up a new hydraulic line if it is the line itself that is leaking.

I have a 93 jeep wrangler 4.0L and after driving for awhile when i put the clutch in to break or slow down, the rpms sometimes drop strait to zero and the motor turns off

You probably ned a new clutch. A good way to check if the clutch is bad. Place the car bumper against something solid and then put the car in gear and if the motor shuts off, then you don't need a clutch. if it does not turn off immedietly, you need a new clutch.
