My car is 2000 acura tl. cruise ctl failed on me a few weeks back. I can still press the button and the cruise ctl light is on at dash board, but the speed can not be set. Please help.
Sometimes the plastic cog on the side of the throttle body (TB) breaks. This cog is "pulled" by the cruise control accuator's cable.
To check, simply look on the side of the TB and check to see of the cable end has broken free. (The mechanisim is much like the brake cable on a bike)
I am facing a problem with cruise control of my Mercury Mountaineer 2002. It was working OK when I parked my Car last night. In the day when I tried to enable cruise control, its light indication appeared on dash board but cruise control did not enable. My car speed continuously getting down. I applied brakes lighting indication disappeared i-e, light indication was responding but cruise control did not enable. I tried it 3 to 4 times but same results.
Excellent, exactly the problem, cable is fine, plastic piece for cruise just couldn't handle the long term highway use. Now to find the replacement part.
