I have a 2004 Honda Civic LX Sedan. My problem with it is one, where you put the in to unlock the car, driver side, won't turn. I know the problem is the key lock cylinder itself, one of the tumblers wont go down when the key goes in, where can I can a tumbler kit with the springs? I tried the dealer but they wont to sell me a new key with its own set. Second problem which I had since I bought the about a 1 1/2 ago is that that key fob will not unlock any of the doors. As well as if I unlock all the doors and then try to lock them with fob, obviously with the doors closed not open, all the doors will lock except for the driver side. How can fix this? Hope its not a designer preference because if so, having a key fob is pointless. Thanks, for those who can help me with this.

To fix the tumblers, find a trusted locksmith. That's the way I'd go. Honda does have a kit, but, it's not a consumer one. You'd spend a decent amount of money on a kit that would fix hundreds of cars, so, that's why they won't sell it to you.

As for the key fob, have you tried putting a new battery in it? Your description is not very clear. The LX should have come from the factory with a key fob. So, if you got one, make sure it's the correct one with a good battery. To program it, put your key in the igntion, turn the key to position 2 (the position right before you start the car), press a button on the key fob, turn the key back to position 0, Repeat these steps over and over (about 4 to 5 times) until the doors lock/unlock. If that doesn't work, you could have a bum transmitter.

If some doors are not lock/unlocking, chances are bad doorlock acuators.

Yes I have put a new battery on both fobs and I have programed both of them. I forgot to mention that once all the doors are locked I cant unlock any of them the key fob, I have to have the driver side door open and then I can use the key fob to unlock the rest of the doors.

SOURCE: 2005 honda civic ignition tumbler

Take it to a locksmith. You don't want to risk pulling it down yourself especially where the immobiliser harness is concerned, in addition Honda tumblers are really hard to source, the defectives ones will have to be removed. You need an experienced locksmith to do this.

SOURCE: 2004 Civic Drivers door lock

The driver's side door lock button is designed not to lock from the inside unless the handle is pulled, or the power switch is used. This serves as a reminder to not lock your keys inside.

If you are inside, and push down on the button (not the switch) hard enough to lock it, you've probably damaged it.

SOURCE: Remote won't lock the Drivers side lock

hi there you say you have had the lock changed do you mean the key hole or the door closure part of the lock?
if you changed the key part its the main lock that's faulty and the reveres is true ,
if the remote is working on one door it is not the remote that's the problem.
i hope that this has been helpful regards John

SOURCE: My 2003 Honda CRV ...drivers side door does not

you may need to replace the door locking actuator, they do tend to go bad over times. does the driver side door lock automatic when using the lock button on the driver side. if you can lock and unlock the driver side door with a switch, my guess would not be the locking actuator, it might be in the remote locking module.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the help. everything relates back to the actuator.."

My key won't unlock drivers side lock on my 2004 honda civic ex

Your problem is not descriptive enough. Has it always been like this or just started happening? If it has always been like this, there is a possibility of a faulty lock OR someone has the door lock replaced and in that event, a new one from Honda comes with a new key that is different from the one for the ignition and the trunk and the glove box. Please provide more details.

How do you install a driver side mirror?

hey, I replaced a mirror on a 2002 civic lx coupe.

1) Pry off the small pastic traingular piece from the interior of your door.
2) Disconnect the wiring to the mirror
3) There will be 3 bolts that attach the mirror to the car, remove these and the mirror can be removed. To put on the new mirror just do everything in reverse

Just make sure you order the right mirror, I accidentally order the mirror for the sedan model the first time and they are not interchangable.

Hope this helps
