You must replace that entire transmission. My shop has seen this one hundred times, each time we must change out the transmission.

SOURCE: transmission no shift in drive or reverse no move

It's the classic shifting solenoid problem. Check the wires leading into the transmission, be sure all connections in tact and wires are not frayed or otherwise broken, shorted out somewhere. If so, remove the transmission pan and the shifting assembly (BE CAREFUL TO HOLD HORIZONTAL AND DO NOT DROP AS THERE ARE LITTLE BALL BEARINGS WHICH COULD FALL OUT!). Inspect the solenoids, they either work or do not when voltage is put to them... not sure on your vehicle what the voltage is, but it could be found at your local dealers parts department (remember a visit is better than a phone call on this as they are in the business of making money, not giving up free information, yet they will assist.

How do i trouble shoot automatic transmission that shifts from park to reverse with the gear shift but the car will not move?

Sounds like the shift cable is off the transmission under the hood. Raise the hood and check to see if the cable is moving the linkage going into the transmission when the shift lever is moved in the car. Be sure to have park brake on.

Transmission problems

It could be a sign of bad transmission solenoid. If so, your vehicle has trouble shifting into drive or reverse. Normally, when you start your car, you're able to shift into drive or reverse right away. With a bad transmission solenoid, the vehicle could have a delay of a few seconds, or even take several minutes to warm up and operate properly. During this delay, the vehicle will act similar to how it behaves in neutral. It won't stay in park, and when you press the gas pedal, the vehicle will make an engine revving noise but not move.

Santro reverse gear

Problem with transmission. Check your transmission oil. Without driving it get the oil replaced. The more your drive it the more it will damage the transmission. I am 80% sure that is the problem. Hope this helps.

The engine turns over with no trouble but when i put it in drive or reverse it doesnt move

If your fluid is full and shifter is moving the lever on the transmission when you move it, likely the transmission has gone away.

When i put my car in reverse it won't move but will drive forward perfect and is full of transmission fluid

Assuming this is an automatic transmission, odds are you have lost a band in your transmission, this will require a rebuild,  you may also notice it will fail to shift into high gear as well?
