My driver's seat has broken in my 1999 Ford Mustang. The reclining lever mechanism seems to be working, but the back portion of the seat seems to freefall backward. Currently, I am using my club to prop the seat up, so I can drive. Can I fix this myself or do I need to get a new seat? Please help.

Get it fixed or replaced NOW!! A loose seat is VERY dangerous!!!
For the amount of hassle this might cause replacement is your better option, but expensive. To fix this you will possibly have to strip the upholstery and padding from the entire seat.
You might be able to get a used set from a vehicle breakers yard or one of the Mustang owners clubs.

SOURCE: front seat stays in the reclined postion..

The seat position is changed through the use of a cable that runs through a flexible tunnel, under the seat. In one case that I'm aware of, this cable got stuck around a projecting seat spring under the seat. When the seat was reclined and moved backward or forward, the cable caught on the seat spring and the seat had insufficient slack in the cable to release from the reclined position.

SOURCE: Ford Mustang '95 Electric Seat

you have to replace the seat frame rail asy. It comes with new motors. I would check the switches for proper power & operation anyway, but having owned & repaired this myself , I am sure you need the whole assembly. P.S. this is a somewhat involved replacement. remove the seat, remove the rail/motor assembly & replace. reinstall to seat then to car

2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor rear seat won't recline?

If the rear seat of your 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor is not reclining, there are a few potential causes to consider:
  1. Broken recline mechanism: The recline mechanism, which is located under the seat, may be broken or damaged, preventing the seat from reclining. You can try to manually operate the recline mechanism to see if it is working properly.
  2. Obstruction: There may be an obstruction, such as a foreign object or a piece of debris, preventing the seat from reclining. Check under the seat for any visible obstructions.
  3. Wiring issue: There may be a problem with the wiring or electrical system that is preventing the seat from reclining. Check the wiring under the seat for any visible damage or loose connections.
  4. Fuse issue: The fuse for the seat recline function may be blown, causing the seat to stop working. Check the fuse box in your vehicle to see if the seat recline fuse needs to be replaced.
If you are unable to identify the cause of the problem and the seat is still not reclining, it is recommended to bring your vehicle to a mechanic or a dealership for further diagnosis and repair.

Ford 2008 expedition, power drivers seat won't recline, but everything else works.

Power Recliner
The driver seat has an electro-mechanical backrest adjuster. The backrest adjustment switch is located on the side of the seat cushion side shield and is part of the seat control switch. The recliner motor is mounted to the backrest frame. Power recliners and motors are only serviceable by installing a new backrest frame assembly.

Found the cable popped off recline mechanism.
Pulled back the lower seat panel near the recline lever after removing one torque screw located on said panel which is on the back of seat. Works great now. By the way, Freedom Chevrolet in San Antonio, Tx, without diagnosis, wanted to charge my girl friend $860 to replace the whole assembly.
