Have an 05 jeep grand Cherokee occasionally when you turn key to start you hear a click, sounds like it might be under dash and car wont crank, all lights work , you can try several times and it will start, cranks normal, battery is new and connections are good, does this car have a relay or solenoid under dash, it is intermittent problem

SOURCE: Does not start/crank

First, check your battery with a volt meter...the starter needs far more power than accessories!
Then make sure you have power and good solid connections at the terminals and the other ends of the cables as well. Check power (12v) at the starter main terminal and for 12v at the small connection to the right of it, (with key turned to start)
If you find the problem while doing this, check the alternator for output (running with all accessories on should be around 13v never less than 12 or creeping downward while running) also check belt tension. If clicking is coming from a relay inside the power distribution box, check what it's for (label on inside of cover) if it's for your starter, change it, ( only if battery is fully charged & verified). Also...if all tests show good but starter does not turn change it.

SOURCE: 05 grand cherokee turn key gets click from relay

First thing to do is check your battery cables. Take them off and clean with a wire brush or sandpaper. Clean the cable end and the post of the battery. Check the battery condition, charge and load test. Check that the negative cable is tight at both ends. Try to start, if it starts your done. If not take a test light and see if when the key is turned to start you get power to the starter. If not check the starter solenoid to see if the power goes thru. If not replace starter solenoid. If it does go thru and no power at starter wire is broken. If power goes thru and and gets to starter and starter does not work replace the starter.

SOURCE: 1998 Jeep Cherokee 2.5td Ltd: intermittent cranking problem.

It sounds like you need to get the starter motor either repaired or replaced. Due to constant trying to start the car, it maybe that the battery is discharged a bit, causing the engine not to respond as usual, so you have to give more throttle. First , get the starter sorted and charge the battery, then you will see how it goes . Hope this helps

SOURCE: 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee Will

your battery is dead...plain and simple. try to turn on your headlights, if they do NOT come on then its obvious what is wrong. if the dash lights didnt come on then more than likely thats the battery. ultimately you may have to replace the alternator, that could be the cause for your dead battery not being recharged by the alternator while the vehicle is running. get a jump and leave the car running/driving for at least 30 minutes, turn it if the car starts and runs you may have to wait and see if you have the same problem in the near future, if so then it isnt your battery thats the problem, it would be the alternator at that point. Sounds like a bad starter, why did you replace the crank position sensor? If the engine will not turn over at all and it sparks with trying to jump the solenoid with a screw driver it seem as though the starter is bad. First you solve the solenoid problem when you jumped the solenoid with a screw driver sending fire to the starter. Check the cable connections to the starter if they are good replace the starter this should fix your problem.

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee what cause the starter to keep on turning after i take my hand of the key?

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee what cause the starter to keep on turning after i take my hand of the key? not told does engine run,.. wow. and if did run was starter screaming and grinding in pain, load and nasty sounds.
my guess it did not start the engine but im only guessing.

HAVE THE SAME CAR 2010 AND FULL OEM FACTORY 7000 PAGE SERVICE MANUAL IN IT.

ONLY 3 CAUSES OF ST LINE FAILURE HERE.
DO HAVE THE KEYLESS OPTION?
as in no dash slot to hold the fack key like mine has.
i will not guess 1 cause. will do all.
1; battery is super low now. and causes BCM to go mad. ( i cant hear your starter and hearing matters for 100 points here)
2; starter bad it can in fact stick (jam) or half stick and starter sings super high rpm but not the cranks shaft at all
3 the keyswitch is bad, stuck in ST position failed.
4: starter relay is bad as in contacts inside it welded (called fused)
5: if keyless option? dash has no key slot
6: added remote start box to car? as in remote cranking and starting?

we can see the car and all options on the car. day1 , or added later.

mine has this.
but mine has no remote start.
this yours.
this plugs into dash slot and there is a real key switch there.
when turned off the starter must stop, and engine.
if the starter keeps going , see my list.
for sure charge the cars battery 100 % first and now to do testing
not told engine runs.!!!

2004 jeep grand cherokee wont start at all

Check you battery terminals first. If they look clean clean them again with a wire brush. Then check battery voltage. You should have 12 to 12.5 volts. While cranking (starting engine) your voltage should drop to no more than 9.5 volts. If it does go below 9.5 then get a new battery. If all that checks out, then check for power to the activation wire to you starter. It should be the small wire. If you get no power there while cranking then you have a problem somewhere in the wiring possibly the starter relay. BUT if you do get power there then sorry sounds like you were sold a bunk starter.

1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee cranks well but will not start. I hear nothing when I first turn key on.

You hear nothing? It cranks well? I'm not sure if I understand what you are "listening" for. Do you hear the starter cranking the engine? If so, why are you expecting clicks?

1996 jeep grand cherokee 5.2L v8 is cranking but wont start doesnt look like its getting a spark

Might be your jeep's ecu is bad. Does the check engine light come on your dash, when you turn the ignition key to on, before cranking? If not, the ecu is bad. If the check engine light does come on, it may be the crank sensor is bad on your jeep.

Turn the key hear a click but nothing else. Still have dash lights etc. No engine cranking sound.

Sounds like a bad battery connection or bad battery. A battery can have enough power to light the instrument panel but not enough to engage starter motor. If the battery and connections proves to be good, then have the starter tested.
