I have a 2003 chrysler town and country van. i was getting in the vehicle and realized i needed something from my wallet. i leaned back to get my wallet out and the back rest of the seat broke and fell back and now wont stay up. me and a friend of mine tried to see what the problem was and found that the metal tube frame inside had split in half. i did a search to find there are complaints pertaining to mva where the back rest broke. i find it very strange that a seat like this that is suppose be safe to be able to sustain a persons weight much less a mva, can break so easily. any suggestions will be helpful. i did not see there was a recall on the seats but maybe there should be? Rico
i already thought of getting one at a wrecking yard. and thats if i could find one with matching color? just seems to me broke too easy for something that is suppose to be a safe seat for drivers to rely on in an accident. as i posted there are accidents that where backrest went back and caused injury to the passenger in the back seat. thanks for the reply though chev49 as i probably will find one in a wrecking yard.

You can get another one from the wrecking yard. Chrysler isn't the only company that makes cars that you can break the seat back on, but I also have one that i broke, so I bought a set used. I saved the broken drivers seat in case the electric motor goes out in my new one. Rick
OK, Thanks, you can probably find your fabric match. I had no trouble at all. OK, Thanks, you can probably find your fabric match. I had no trouble at all.

We have the same issue currently...very randomly...with our 2008 Caravan at the moment. Wife just got ...
My wife has a 97 town and country. For about 2 weeks the instrument panel was going out then coming back on. A couple days ago it got bad. The van would start and run only several seconds then the engine would shut down. I took the Instrument panel out and it started and stayed running. I pulled the PC board found the bad Soder connections and resodered them. Problem was gone and the P1698 code erased. Best thing is it did not cost me anything and the van is fixed !
You need to clear the Drain. It is located on the passenger side firewall toward the bottom. It is normally a piece of tubing bent to face the ground and crimped slightly at the end. Make sure this tube is clear and it should drain to the outside of the vehicle.
your nearest dealer needs to "reset" that with a "starscan" they will need both of the keys to verify that they both have good "Signal" and to reprogram them to the vehicle. veh. needs to be present at time of repair.
you need to lay on your back and follow the brake pedal up so far and you will see the brake switch attached to it,you will need to pull out a large hair pin clip, and wiggle the master cylinder rod and the switch off together,
