Have it towed to a shop! Do not drive this car! It seems that either your brake master cylinder or the brake booster or both have failed. You can no longer count on having brakes when you need them.

SOURCE: emergency brake going to the floor

Did you purchase new tires lately? Perhaps they didn't align them or your wheel bearings are bad causing vibration in disc rotor moving caliper piston furthur from pads increasing the brake pedal distance..

SOURCE: my turn signals dont work unless i'm srepping on

The mechanism in the steering column works you turn signal and brake lights. Odds are its bad, they break sometimes because of the tilt wheel and sometimes they just wear out. You have an air bag in your wheel, I would suggest you might want to take it to a shop. lee

SOURCE: brake pedal goes all the to the floor. can not

Check the reservoir to be sure the fluid is full. If not, top it off and try it again. If there's still trouble building pressure, pump the brakes a bunch of times, and then check around each wheel for fluid on the ground. If you see none, it's possible that you have a break in the line somewhere through the chassis and that the fluid is leaking out inside. If you see no evidence of leakage, and the reservoir is still full, you need a new brake master cylinder - what will have happened is that the diaphragm around the plunger inside the master cylinder (which moves through the cylinder when you push the pedal, and forces fluid out to the wheels) has a hole or tear in it, so instead of pushing the fluid out to the brakes, the plunger simply moves through the fluid. It never builds pressure, and your brakes don't work.

SOURCE: HI, my 1993 cadillac sts

Probably a broken brake line. Most brake and muffler shops can handle this type of repair. New line must be installed and system bled od air.

SOURCE: 1993 cadillac sts no brakes, pedal goes to the

you may have arusted through brake line you wii have to investigate under the car to see where fluid is coming from. there are no replacement lines available unless you get one from a recycle facility (junk Yard)

Feels like I'm being held back

Sounds like your brakes are sticking. Possibly the emergency brake is not disengaging entirely? Stop the car and put in park. Apply emergency brake as hard/far as possible. Then release and put in drive and try to go. Most emergency brakes are self adjusting. If the problem still persists, have it taken to your mechanic.

2005 Mountaineer 2 wheel drive, 6 cyl hard to shift when parked on incline or decline and doesnt feel like shifting into overdrive. Sometimes jump a few inches when put into reverse. Any thoughts.

Yes when you park on an incline you should always put your emergency brake on before shifting to park. Then whenyou are ready to move again put you car in gear before disengaging the emergency brake. this will remove the stress from the transmission.

My 2000 cadillac escalade accelerated and the brakes were not working

That is not an emergency brake, it is for parking only. Get this checked outby a brake shop or general repair shop ASAP, DO NOT DRIVE IT!

2001 cadillac sls parked on sloping driveway with emergency brake on. Emergency brake will not release when car turned on and put in gear. Will not release by pulling down on yellow brake release lever...

There is likely a siezed cable or caliper, possibly because the hand brake hasn't been used regularly.Jack up the rear of the car,see which wheel,or both are stuck. The cable(s) will then need to be cut close to the wheel,or possibly hammered back.

Emergency brake is engaged and i cant figure out how to release it? its a 1989 cadillac sedan deville

Hello, Look up under the dash next to the inside of the car, between the foot pedal for the park brake assembly, on the park brake assembly there should be a short lever, it may even be yellow on the end. pull it back toward you, that should release the park brake. The System is suppose to release automatically when you put the car in gear. It works off vacuum, the switch is mounted on top of the steering column and the actuator is mounted on the park brake assembly

1995 Ford Ranger Truck has been sitting for a couple months while my sons went away to military and the emergency brake won't disengage...

sounds like it froze up due to rust

if you go to an auto parts store you can by a parking brake cable tool that will allow you to separate the cables

however, you probably will still have the rear brakes locked and without just driving the vehicle, you'll have to disassemble the rear brakes to free everything

1995 Cadillac SlS Shift lever knob will not move, seems frozen.

Put your parking brake on. Remove console panel. Put foot on brake. Turn ignition key to on position (Do NOT start vehicle!). Locate park lock cable (Parallel to drivers right knee). Press down on that cable with left hand while attempting to move shifter with right hand. Replace that cable if shifter moves out of park.
