Engine cranks, but no fire, pulled out a spark plug, no spark either, it run fine one day, went to start it up the next day, run for a few seconds then died, any suggestions, get tired. Thanks anyone i have a 94 grand cherokee. no power to coil. fuses and relays good. new pcm. need help bad
The crankshaft position sensor was seriously problematic in those old jeeps. It's located towards the top of the bell housing slightly to the driver's side I think.
I always get to them from underneath with a looooooonnnnngggg extension and a swivel. I can't remember what size the bolts are but I wanna say 7/16. Chrysler though, is a little silly with their bolt sizes sometimes and it could be anything from 8 to 10 or even 13mm (they forget they're an american car company). You may be able to get to it from the top, but I've never tried. I know you can put your fingers on it, but getting tools to the bolts is a different story.

If you have a security system, close all the doors and then lock the drivers door with the key, then unlock it. That should re-set the system. I've had the computer completely disconnected from mine several times (used it to check another vehicle) and I don't have security...it started and ran fine...only difference between the two is the security so I'd try that.

check the wires going to ing.sound like you have a broken wire or one that is not hooked

Could be a crank or cam sensor gone bad. I suggest you get a haynes or chilton manual and do the testing outlined in them to determine which it is. Neither item is very inexpensive and the crank sensor is a real pain to replace. There are other things that can do that so testing is important.
Crank sensor is the most common failure but asd relay, wiring problems, bad ground on a relay etc can do much the same thing.

i thought that it might be the sensor, now the question is, how do i get to it ? and its on the passenger side. cant get a wrench on it. cant even tell what size it is. talk about a pain in the **** !
the sensor bolts wouldnt happen to be allen or torx head bolts would they ?
