I have a 92 Subaru Loyale 4 Door that purred like a kitten, I drove it to work it was running great as always, I turned it off, when I was ready to leave work I went to start it and it would barely start, it acts like its only running on two cylinders, I thought maybe that the timing belt had slipped as I went to start it so I had the timing belt changed and the mechanic said it was still running the same, He couldn't figure out what was wrong so I had AAA bring it to my house, now that I have the time to try and fix it, but I need a few leads of what might be going on.....

Check for bad / cracked / hardened vacuum hoses, especially to the PCV valve (which is pretty cheap to replace). Also, check the EGR valve, to see it is working. There is also the possibility of low fuel pressure or low fuel volume due to a failing fuel pump, fuel pump relay (if equipped), or a clogged or clogging fuel filter. I should have mentioned to check the fuel to see if it might be contaminated with water. Have you checked to see if the coolant (antifreeze) is low, or if the oil looks like a chocolate shake? That can happen if coolant is leaking into the oil via a failing head gasket or cracked water jacket!

SOURCE: subaru loyale wagon replacing the timing belt

Get a proper manual like Haynes (amazon, parts store, Haynes.com).  You should not have to take either main pullel or cam pulley off to change timeing belt,  you DO want a new tensioner and and new idler pulley (if there is one).  Failure to replace these may result in a later failure that wipes out the blet, and possibly the motor (if it is an interference motor).
If you can change the oil pump from working on the front side of the motor, you are either a magician or a contortionist;!) and I need you to help me work on my car;~)    It's pretty rare for an oil pump to go bad before 400K km or 300K miles  ... the bloddy things are in a constant bath of oil!

SOURCE: '91 Subaru: dash & running lights won't turn on with headlights

This is a problewm I have been researching. On the 91 Loyale there are two headlight relays. The relay for the left headlight also controls the instrument lights and the running lights. If the right relay is working and the left is not, the left headlight will be dim because of a back electrical path through the high beam indicator light on the dash, but the instrument and running lights will be out. I have been trying to find out where Subaru put these relays, but three Subaru service departments have been no help. One dealer's service department told me to remove the large bezel around the instrument panel. I did and the relays weren't there. Lots of luck.

Someone with skills/tools to enter a car with the keys locked in it may be able to get you in there.Ask a locksmith(they will probably charge less if you bring the car to them). The various vehicle entry tools to open a door might also work to open the hood.
