No tail or parking lights

89 Jeep Cherokee- i have the chrysler repair manual the troubleshooting guide for inoperative taillights states to check for a short to ground in the DK BLU circuit. However, none of the leads to the headlight switch are dark blue(my original guess) None of the circuits are labeled DK BLU. I've gone thru all the wiring diagrams but no DK BLU. Any ideas?? Oh, I replaced the headlight switch first, thinking that was the problem. I noticed the wiring connector looks like it got hot and is a little melted/warped. Many thanks

Problem is they keep changing wire colours...My 93 has circuts that aren't in any manual I've seen yet!
Have you tested the bulb sockets for power & ground? Also make sure all wires on the melted connector are clean enough to make good contact. (break it apart if you need to and connect each wire to each terminals...just keep a diagram of it for later.

My 2005 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4 hass no taillights or rear blinkers. Fuses are good and replaced the connector plate.

Did you check voltage and ground for tail lamps? Use a test light, lamps on. On one side the wire color for tail lamps, white with brown tracer. The other side, white with dark blue tracer. The black wire is ground. Did you check for voltage at applicable fuses, lamps on? There is a park lamp relay. I'm not saying the relay is faulty, I'd have to check the relay circuits, first.

No tail and dash lights on 1990 jeep Cherokee Laredo , I checked the fuse box under the dash all looks ok . however I don't see anything for tail or dash lights maked.

Viking here, There is a good chance that there is another fuse box under the hood. If you didn't locate a fuse for the lights it makes sense that the fuse is in another location. Look on the firewall, fender, for a box. Hope this helps you. Viking

Jeep grand cherokee alarm system

The 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Anti-Theft System is equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS). VTSS system monitors vehicle doors, hood, liftgate and ignition. The following wiring diagram and electronics circuit contains detail schematics of The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Anti-Theft System. Herein you will find interconnection between electronics parts of the system such as body control module, auto headlamp light sensor. Troubleshooting tail light assembly issues in my Jeep

Check fuse panel, under dash, as well as under hood. Owners manual should also give you map of fuses. May say"park" lights, "running lights", or something similar.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee; taillights go out w/ brake press

Try checking one of 2 things, Check the fuses. I had a 94 cavalier do the same thing after i put a 30amp fuse in to a 25amp slot for the courtsy fuse. Also check the bulbs in the tail of the vehical to make sure they are the right ones. If this dose not do it get a test light & wire diagrham, you may have a bad short to ground some where in the brake light wires.

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Left Tail/Stop Light Inop.

You need to check for power and ground. If you dont have a volt meter you can get a good cheap one from radio shack. If there is no power recheck with a known good ground. All the lights on that side share a common ground. Check the sockets for signs of burning or corrosion. There is a plug in the left rear quater panell. If you have no power check the corrisponding wire at that connector. The wires splice togeter just before the connector. So if the other brake/tail light is working you know the problem is after that. Hope this helps. Im sure you'll find the problem.
