2.7 engine located above the starter. You need to remove the starter outherwise its fairly easy.
The 2.4 & 3.5 engine, its located in the front next to the timing belt, a little more complicated to to install.

No spark on the ignition coils

my car would turn over but wouldn 't start, after changing all the same stuff you did it kept not starting again , so i changed the purge control valve and it's been good so far . seems to be a common problem, there are 2 on the car but they say its the one on the engine they always replace, better check that first to be sure.

Piston positions in 2004 hyndai santa fae

I were awakened by a loud explosion that sounded like a tire on an 18 wheeler blew out on the interstae nearby. then within seconds a smaller sxplosion and the 'panic' alarm on our 2008 Syundai Santa Fe started on go off. by the time I reached the window to look out on our driveway the rear drivers side of our 2008 Santa Fe was engulfed in flames, and only 3 feet from our house and parked next to our 2001 GMC 'Jimmy". One of our neighbors was frantically screaming for us to get out of our house and pounding on our front door. The vehicle had not been driven for over 2 days --- it just spontanousely erupted in flames.
WHY? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this happening to a new Santa Fe with less than 2,500 miles on it?

WHERE IS THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR LOCATED

The 2002 Santa Fe came with three (3) possible powertrains (engines). The 4 cylinder, and two different V6 engines - i.e. 2.4L 4 cylinder, the 2.7L V6 and the 3.5L V6.

The crankshaft position sensor on the 4 cylinder and the 3.5L V6 are in the same place - Front Crank Shaft behind the pully (behind the timing belt cover.

On the 2.7L V6, the Cranshaft Position Sensor is located in the engine block (Left Hand Side)
near the flywheel (adjacent to the LH (Bank 2) exhaust manifold.

Note: Left Hand Side means the radiator side (front) Bank 1 is the firewall side.

Whenever it rains my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe will not run well. Today it sputtered and died several times. Now its running again that it has dried out. What is causing this?

We went through this with ours recently. Hyundai diagnosed it as a bad crank shaft position sensor. We replaced it and we're up and running again. Not sure why the damp weather affected it but it did.

I have just had similar problem was on my way to work and car just stopped like it ran out of fuel . my balance shaft belt broke which caused the timing belt to jump a tooth still waiting for a quote for repair its up to $2000 so far through hyandai. after looking at other web sites realised this is a common fault with 2002 santa fe. you may want to get the crank angle sensor checked as well as my car has done two so far. hope this helps and your car is not as serious as mine

My '01 Santa Fe awd v-6 has a new transmission, now sometimes won

Bases on the limited info provided, most likely the ignition switch. If you list the symptoms you experience when it doesn't start it would be easier to diagnose your problem for example: does it crank? does the key turn and do nothing? etc. Hope this answers your question.
