The pump is back under the rear of car, but by now, the shocks are sure to be leaking, which causes the pump to run too much burning it up. Best fix is to replace rear shocks with coils and dump the self leveling feature, or prepare to pay big bucks to replace most components.

If there is plenty of pressure, it's probably not a leaky air shock aborber nor is it a bad air pump under the hood.

I had a problem with my '98 Deville. I had a lot of issues with the air shocks and all the other electronic stuff that goes with that. I called the dealer, and they wanted $3500 to fix it!!! Do you hear your compressor running? It may be that it is getting tired and ready to burn out on you. I replaced the compressor twice on my Deville before I found that there were so many holes and nicks in the air bags and it was going to cost me almost $1500 to fix the whole system. I went online and found Strutmasters. I got a non air conversion kit for my car and love it. Saved me money and headache.

You may have a leak in the rear air bags or the compressor for the air bags is not working,listen when you turn on the key to see if you can hear the compressor run ,if you do then likely the bags,if not then likely the compressor.
