2001 Nissan xterra when I turn on ignition my stock radio starts scanning, switching to cd mode but cd won't play or eject. When I hit eject it makes a loud pop noise through the speakers. It will stop scanning & then I can change radio stations but nothing with cd player. It was fine till I had some engine work done. Any suggestions?

Mechanic somehow fouled up your radio. Blown fuse maybe? It is a 12yr old radio, coincidence? Probably not.

sounds like your body control module. it is located down in the kick panel on the passenger side. the body control module run things inside the car

check that you have an earth wire in the system as the earth bolt on the back of the unit is normally fixed to plastic hence the unit has no earth

HI lisasmith566 IT is not a fuse problem .
the problem is your the CD part of the radio
must likely the cd is stock or more likely the cd drive motor is defective .
FIRST try pushing eject on radio and see CD comes out if not you need a new radio .

I have an 05 jeep grand cherokee and the other day when I went to hit the the eject button on the CD player it automatically went straight to the radio. After I restarted the vehicle I could hit mode and it would begin to play the cd again but if I tried to hit eject it would go to the radio again. It doesnt have a disc changer and everything else on the factory head unit is working find, the radio, all that stuff. I didnt want to start tearing things apart or trying to dig it out. I have sees some others with the same problem on here, but the answer are like "dig in there with tweezers" and I dont think thats the best possible way to solve the problem. Any Ideas?

it really won't eject due to worn out "motor-plate-sub-***'y", a component of cd mechanism. have it checked to a service center near you.

One thing have you tried to pull the CD out?

Pound on th right side of console with right hand balled into a fist until CD is ejected. Mine does the same thing with new CD's.
