'99 Silverado seat belts tight

The seat belts in my '99 Silverado pull so hard on your shoulder, it actually starts to put your arm to sleep after a while. Both driver and passenger belts do this. They operate fine, it's just when they are buckled they feel like the spring tension is too high. Can this be adjusted?

SOURCE: how do i remove the drivers seat in my 99 chevy

Probablyt because the little wire cable that activates the release mechanisms on both sliders is broken, and therefor only allowing only one slider to release when you activate the seat adjusting lever, and leaving the other one engaged, preventing you from moving your seat. This is relatively easy to diagnose, if you know what to look for... Just try to see what all moves when you press your lever. See if there is a wire cable that is activated anywhere under your seat it should be relativley close to your lever and run across the open space to the opposite slider.

SOURCE: the tension arm or spring is bad so my belt keeps

Buy a replacement for about $40 at autozone or advance, if the serpentine belt has never been replaced get one of those too. Jack the front passenger wheel up and put a jackstand under it. Take off the tire and you will see a plastic service door in the wheel well, take that out too. You now see all the guts there. Now get a long wrench put it on the tensioner bolt and use it to relieve tension, pull off the belt, unbolt the tensioner, put the new tensioner in tightening bolts firmly. Put the new belt on, use some leverage on the tensioner to allow you to put the belt on the tensioner and you are done. While you are in there you may want to replace the right side dog bone motor mount which will also be right in front of you.

2011 subaru forester front passenger seat belt is locked too tightly and will not release, how do I fix?

The reason is the belt mechanism is damaged and the belt needs to be replaced. What happens is the gears lock this usually only happens when the vehicle is in a collision or has a major and hard stop

How to remove a back seat from 02 toyota avensis

Hi, peel the cover from around the seat frame so that the shoulder strap hold the cover on to the seat.

Extend the set belts to their maximum length and recline the seat as far as possible.

Looking at the seat from the front, put your hand in the gap between the reat of the seat (bit that reclines) and the fromt of the fixed base (by the red dome and the instructions).

On the bit of the seat that reclines there is a 'door' that opens to reveal a metal clasp that the ends of the shoulder straps fix to at the top and the ****** belt at the bottom.

Unhook the looks from the shoulder straps from the metal clasp.

Pull the shoulder straps through the back of the seat upright. You can now pull them through the cover which is free for you to wash.

Thank you.

Replacing ball joints on 1994 2500 silverado pick up plus replacing pittman rod

You will have to get a couple of tools for this job, a "pickle fork" and a pitman arm puller. You may be able to rent or borrow, but you should be able to buy them for about $80. They come in handy. To do the ball joints, jack up the truck and block it. With the wheel off remove the big nut on the inside of the spindle. Wedge your pickle fork between the spindle and control and give it a few belts with a hammer until the ball joint comes outof the spindle. Don't be shy with the hammer. Next you remove the ball joint from the control arm. IT may be riveted or bolted. Grind the rivets off, with a mini grinder. Bolt the new ball joint into the control arm tight and put it back in the spindle. Tighten up the big nut. If you are using a socket or box end wrench when you can't turn it any more it should be tight enough, put your shoulder into it when you tighten. Do your ball joints one at a time. You can use this procedure to remove the pitman arm from the center link. To remove the pitman arm from the steering box, remove the nut first. Hook up your puller making sure it is centered on the steering box shaft and straight with the angle of the box. Tighten the center bolt. When it gets hard to turn with your wrist give the bolt a sharp rap with a hammer. REpeat this until the pitman arm comes off. Put the new one on,they are usually made so that they will only go on in one position on the steering box. Make sure you before you tighten it that you didn't put it on upside down. When you sure it's on right tighten it up. Itshould return to a similar position on the steering shaft as the old one you took off. Reconnect the other end to the center link. Make sure you grease whatever you replace, and get your truck aligned as soon as possible, or your tires will start to wear funny.

99 Toyota Camry one of the rear seat belts won't retract

You have to actually unbolt the belt holder behind the seat. Then from there you can check to see if the spring still works. You'll probably have to take the cap off it, wind the spring-load, then put the cap back on. If you can get to it, it's not too difficult. I recommend another pair of hands to help hold if they're available. You'll also want to make sure you've rolled the belt up as much as possible before before you coil the spring-load.

How do we fix front passenger side seat belt retractor on 1999 Ford Taurus? It will not pull out....

you may have to remove the bolt that holds the buckle to the floor. Try to push the belt into the retractor and see if it frees up.

I assume you are saying it is in the locked mode. It has an automatic lock mode for holding a child seat. When the belt is pulled all the way out, it goes into locking mode. You will hear it ratchet when the belt starts going back in.

Section 01-20A: Restraints, Active 1999 Taurus, Sable Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Safety Belt, Lap/Shoulder The dual locking mode retractor on the shoulder belt portion of the combination lap/shoulder safety belt for the front seat passenger and rear seat outboard passengers operates in two ways:
  1. In the vehicle sensitive (emergency locking) mode, the shoulder belt retractor will allow the occupant freedom of movement, locking tight only on hard braking, hard cornering or impacts of approximately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more. The front and rear outboard seat belt retractors can also be made to lock by pulling/jerking on the belt.
  1. In the automatic locking mode, the shoulder belt retractor will be automatically locked and remain locked when the combination lap/shoulder safety belt is buckled and does not allow the occupant freedom of movement. This mode provides tight lap/shoulder belt fit on the occupant and on a child safety seat or infant carrier installation restraint.
  1. When the combination lap/shoulder belt is unbuckled and allowed to retract completely, the retractor will switch to the vehicle sensitive (emergency) locking mode.
sxh~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif WARNING: REAR-FACING INFANT SEATS SHOULD NEVER BE PLACED IN THE FRONT SEATS.
The automatic locking mode must be used when installing a child safety seat on the front passenger seat and rear outboard seats where dual locking retractors are provided
