Hi, i wonder if anybody can help please? Most of the time when i start up My focus its ok, however sometimes when started it just revs higher & higher on its own until i hit the peddle once or twice, then it calms down and is ok. Then the other problem is that sometimes it will cut out on my when i am driving, then it will let me restart it whilst still moving, but not by bumping it, it will re start straight away when i switch off the ignition and re turn the engin by key, and then all is fine again. Anybody know what i should do?? are both things linked? Thanks in advance. Meurig.
It do sound like the car have developed a fueling problem this could be the fuel pump its self has failed butiam afraid theres not a lot you can do yourself, its going to be the case of checking a few things 1st it would be a idea to check the timeing belt to c if its broken or stripped its teeth could well have broken and this would cause a complete brakedown u can check this by removing the cover on the end of the engine if its found to be ok the next job is to check if diesal is getting though to the injectorsif not it could be you have fueling problems the car would then need to go on a diagnostics machine to see whats going on just where the fault is and what can be done this all depends on whats found at the time there are electrical issues that these have and these would need checking too genually its to do with the earths the earth wires in and around the engine bay if and when they give trouble they can cause a non start so its worth checkingafter that it will need to go on a diagnostics mechine .hope this helps

there is a common fault with the injection pump failing, producing metal fragments returning into the fuel delivery system. remove the fuel filter an drain it into a clean container and check for this metalic contamination.
