2000 Nissan Maxima Hard Starting

My 2000 Maxima with 72K miles has begun to be hard starting This car always started very easily. When cranking, the engine sometimes give a little pop before it catches. Once running it runs well and there are no trouble codes. What are the most common issues that would cause this symptom, coolant temp. sensor, etc.

My 1997 nissan maxima won't start when its cold outside. I have always had a hard time starting the car u would have to turn the key in the ignition real hard but now on cold days it won't...

Sounds like either weak battery or a weak starter not turning it over quick enough. Check thoses areas first and then go to the ignition switch and check

Starting problems

IF its not a fuel issue as in you checked your fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors and pressure regulator, try having your timing belt looked at. Maybe its time to replace it. Check your crank and camshaft sensors as well.

2006 Maxima starts ok when cold. Really hard to

Might be an oil issue. Oil when hot might be too thick for the pump to pump the oil easily in the engine. Check that and if not that come back.

It is stick shift and only starts by pushing it and dumping the clutch? Sounds like a bad starter or the connections didn't get tightened to it when the transmission was replaced.

Can a cam sensor cause a hard start

Yes, cam sensor can cause a hard starting condition, but not that common on a 2000 maxima. I haven't replaced single one on a 2000 Max and I have one also (maxima that is) . Never had any problem with cam or crank sensors. I think that your problem is somewhere else, like IAC valve circuit. Just a tip. Its kinda hard to diagnose something over the computer, without Consult2 (Nissan scanner) beeing hooked up to the car and seeing what the car is doing while cranking for my self.
