99 silverado will not shift into overdrive

Yesterday my 99 Silverado would not shift into overdrive. Before that it would surge at 50 mph but when that would happen I just down shifted to 3rd but now yesterday it worked fine until the last time I drove it, it would not shift into overdrive just like it was in tow haul mode. I read that there is a transgo valve body kit that would fix the surging problem and supposedly a fuse for the second but I am not finding the fuse for overdrive. Thanks for your help. The truck has a 5.3L with 235000 miles its been a great truck this is the first major issue. Original engine and tranny.

Have a 1998 K3500 silverado 4x4 with 454 motor and 4L80E transmission. I can not get over 55 or 60 mph. At that speed the transmission down shifts from 4th (OD) to 3rd. The speedometer also drifts from about 50 to 65. If I try to speed up it will down shift to 3rd. I have replaced the VSS on the trasfer case. Is there another speed sensor somewhere? Or could it be the TPS? The truck drives and shift normal up to this point. where should i look next. thanks

First thing, check your fuel filter and your CAT. if either is clogged you will get that problem.

1999 Silverado has an engine surge of 200-500 RPM at 45 to 55 MPH

sounds a little like a cruise control problem.
they used to have a centering adjustment that kept the speed within a range. If the range somehow shifted to the high end this would cause your surge. it would be a screwdriver slot on the outside of the case.cw increase ccw decrease. yours is set too high or cw.
I work the screw back and forth several times in case dirt entered the cruise module.

I have a 2000 chevy blazer with a 4.3 vortec motor,my problem is when i'm cruising at a steady speed the engine surges it usually happens around 45-50 mph

ENGINE SURGING COULD BE WEAK FUEL PUMP, STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER,BAD TORQUE CONVERTER SOLENOID OR TORQUE CONVERTER. OR FAULTY TPS.

Trans on my 1999 3500 silverado is shifting late wont go into overdrive till 62 mph could it be the speed censor & where is it

Hi, the late shift, and late overdrive issue may not be trans. related, if you need to feather the accelerator to achieve your shifts, and you have a late sift, or loss of power, you may have a restricted fuel filter. The lack of fuel volume can result in what feels like a trans. issue, but in actuality, you are starving the engine for fuel. I would check this first, as it is an easy, cheap possibility. Good luck...Coop

99 silverado wont engage in to overdrive.

have you checked the trans fluid level? if level is good. check shift fuse in fuse panel. if fuse good, the trans screen may need replacement. the fluid could be bad and needs drained and replaced. if none of those you need a transmission repair.

Engine surge at 45-55 mph on 2002 Silverado 5.3l engine

I would start looking for a vacuum leak. Check all the vacuum lines for cracks or breakage. Spray penetrating fluid on them until you hear the engine start to stumble then focus the spray on that area until you are able to pinpoint the location of the leak. Best of luck,my friend, Dana

My 99 Silverado 1500 won't shift into overdrive

There is an overdrive fuse in the fuse compartment on the drivers side door panel, check and see if its blown, if it is there was some problems with the overdrive shift wire touches the bottom of the tranny pan, and can cause the fuse to blow out.
