the lower mounting bracket has a long bolt as you have found , the alternator sits between the inner edges of this bracket, which have anti crush collets fitted in the bracket holes , one of these may have slid out when you removed the bolt , try to see if there is a cylindrical sleeve stopping the alternator moving completely out ,if so push this back into the bracket , hope this helps
Just follow the wires from the coil pack mounted on top, there are 4 of them, they will take you to the side of the motor where the spark plugs are hiding. Hope this helps.
It is not difficult at all. Have your wrench or spana and remove the old one being sure to take note of how it was before removing it and you are done.
