Came back from vacation and started my range rover, drove just fine. Parked it back in my garage, turned if off and tried to turn it back on to move it again and it wont turn over. It seems like it is right there and wants to turn over but it wont. Replaced fuel filter thinking that might be the problem but got nothing. The lights dim when it tries to turn over but it just wont. Please help!!

If it is and automatic, put your foot on the brake and rack it through all the gears and back into Park.
My mother worked as a secretary at Land Rover in Solihull for 16 years until she retired. She drove a number of test vehicles and a prototype of the Vogue Turbo Diesel to visit me down in Cornwall.
Map Sensor or Crank Sensor. If you have a code reader the map sensor should throw a code, the crank sensor most often will not. Both will cause the car to start, idle to around 1,000 R's and then die.
Hi justin, sounds like you have a headgasket problem are you going through any water? If not you may have a leaking fuel injector or faullty fuel pressure regulator. you either have fuel or water leaking into a cylinder causing it to miss fire on first start up.
if its not turning over all the way when its worm and the batteries good as a mechanic the first thing i would do is check all the fluids oils coolant colors and levels and if that all good change the starter
hi today i was driving my land rover 04 plate parked up at a shop and when i got back in to start it the engine took a while to fire up i then drove it home and turned it off when i got there now it wont start although the engine has enough battery power to turn the engine as normal it wont start at all it just turns and turns the engine over and now have hdc inactive message on dash ....any ideas pls
My guess is that you have either a bad contact in the wiring or the ECM detects a fault and prevents the engine from starting. The only way to know for sure (apart checking the entire wire loom starting with the key switch) is to have the error code read. Do that ASAP, running the engine with a fault can't be very good for it.
You probably have a bad connection at the battery or at the starter. Clean all connections & attempt to restart. You may also have a problem with the starter in which case remove & replace. Good luck!
You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)
