I went to start my 1999 olds bravada after about 2 weeks of sitting and the battery is dead. When I went to take my key out of the ignition the key was stuck. I can't get it out of the ignition. what do I do?

look for a removeable panul just under the key (underside of steering wheel)
Remove it and look for a button or lever that will manually release the key.look for a removeable panul just under the key (underside of steering wheel)

if i remember right there is a release for the key, lower steering column cover pop out the plastic oval tab and take a screw driver and push up on the release. as far as the no start i would agree that the ignition switch is the problem. make sure when you go to replace it you disconnect the battery and let it sit for about 15 min before you mess with it. dont want those airbags going off
These models were know for igntion switch problems. the switch is located in the column near the key and lock cylinder.usually there is a burnt smell if you smell around the switch when you remove upper column cover.switch will need to be replaced if it is burnt.
replace your battery, a battery discharges every day you dont run the alt. to charge it up... after a week or 2 weeks the battery would be dead, just from a car sitting not being started... if you are not using the vehicle, it is a good thing to replace the battery, and every couple days just start the car up and let it run a while to charge the battery.... if you are going to have to leave the car for a while without starting it, then disconnect the battery, and remove it from the vehicle... you can buy a cheap trickel charger for the battery when it is out that will keep it charged till you decide to put it back in.... hope this helps you...
Your battery is either faulty or ther is a parasitic drain, have it checked out at parts house. With a good battery installed, spray some starter fluid into intake housing. If it starts, then dies, you have fuel pressure/delivery problems. Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn on the key? Hope this helps.
Remove steering column shroud(cover)and tap ignition barrel with small hammer while twisting key backwards and forwards, also turn steering wheel backwards and forwards sometimes this is enough to release key as the locking pins in barrel and the steering lock pin do sometimes jam.You will have to remove steering column shroud to replace ignition barrel if tapping/hitting it doesnt work anyway so its not a wasted effort.Good luck, let me know how it works out
