Quite frankly I'm a GM guy, but after reading your question, to me a 3-4-or 5 spd , Below that shifter is a switch to indicate when the shifter is put into the reverse gate. Test its continuity and replace. Later model std's have switches on the trans. Hope this helps

Reverse lights not working on 1990 Chevy 2500 , bulbs are okay, where is the fuse located / would it be the switch and if so where could I find it. Also dome light doesn't work

The problem is not the fuse most likely but the reverse light switch on the transmission. If it is an automatic the reverse light switch is part of the large switch that sits under the cable that shifts the transmission gears you select. If it is a manual it is located on the side of the case of the tranny. The interior lights are on a different fuse, do they come on at the head light dome light switch? Has the bulb been checked. I do not have the owner's manual on file due to the age of the truck, sorry.

I have a 05 nissan navara d22 and last week the tail lights have stopped working. Its just the tail lights. brake lights ok. reverse ok and the turn signals are all ok. fuses are all ok. is there a relay i...

the tail lights and brake lights are on a different circuit so if one goes out you still have the other was your car serviced recently the mechanic might have taken it out so you can come back to spend more$$$ check the owners manual for the fuse value EX. 5amp -15 amp? and put it in the open fuse space in the power distribution box behind the battery this will probably fix your problem and unmask a rotten mechanic if you don't have the owners manual you can search it on the net and look at the power distribution box diagram it will tell you the fuse value that should be there LATER MAN!

Reversing lights wont work

Look in your owners manual to see where your fuse box and relay box is located. Check to see if fuse is blown in the fuse box first.

I just purchased a 1996 cavalier. It didn't have an owners manual and i need to know what the abrieviations on the fuse box stand for. I'm trying to find the fuse for the brake lights and rear turn...

Hi, the likely problem is the turn signal switch. The signals and brake lights use different fuses. You can get an owners manual here:
http://www.extendedgmwarranty.com/owners-manual/chevrolet/1996-Chevrolet-Cavalier.pdf

A new switch is about $40, and it isn't too hard to replace. Make sure you get one that has the same controls as yours does. To replace the switch, remove the covers from the steering column, disconnect the switch and unscrew it from the column.

Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

The button on the side of the gear shifter will not go in to change from park to reverse. \r\n2005 Ford Mustang

check your stop light working or not, if not check fuse and the stop light switch, if all ok, check the reverse lock-out solenoid, check out your owners manual to lock out manually

1996 Plymouth voyager reverse lights not working, transmission replaced this week and they claimed the reverse lights have nothing to do with reverse lights. owners manual does not show a fuse for back up...

They are full of baloney. Ther's a switch underneath the shift lever that engages when you shiht into reverse. The mechanic probably loosened it when reconnecting the shift linkage to the new tranny.

Thay may have knocked the switch out of position, which would cause the lights to go on in some other gear than reverse. That would be the first thing I check.

Good luck !
