black smoke is not enough air for the mixture
the intercooler hose swelling up when the turbo cuts in indicates a blockage in the intercooler or air inlet into the manifold
with a blockage ou will get black smoke so check the intercooler cores for blockages
if its black smoke then its a fuel problem too much fuel the car can`t burn it . could be fuel injector over fueling. if its white smoke then its burning coolant, there is a head gasket problem that is damaged in the cyl #3 area. it could also be a bad valve guide/valve seal, oil rings, compression rings. you don`t say what colour the smoke is.
this car must be a Diesel as this sounds of a injector pump failure , there are two fine machined plates with groves cut in them "inside pump" after a lot of miles these two machined plates are not so machined anymore and fuel slips by causing the symptoms your describing , pump will need to be rebuilt and flow bench set or replaced with allready rebuilt/set unit to get things back to normal
Diesel?? Black some is unburned fuel, due to poor combustion. Get a compression test, but you may also have a leaky injector.
Gas engine?? Due to too much fuel, too rich. Make sure air filter is clean, Clean up your intake and IAC system. Scan it if it continues.
im afraid to say that yor piston rings are worn and will need a engine rebuild , you could try and put a thicker oil in 15w40 or 20w40 if you can source it . hope this helps
