How to reset a computer on a mercury cougar 2001

Use a OBD2 fault code reader or scanner to reset the system. A full wipe is done by disconnecting the battery negative cable for 5 min's. I do not recommend this as you will then loose all stored and learned engine and transmission data and have to perform an OBD2 drive cycle test to complete/pass any emission testing required.

2001 kia optima new battery computer reset no check engine light but shows evap and computer monitor ing code

You must wait for the system to run internal tests then if it sees no issue it will clear and show ready. This is called an OBD2 drive cycle test. The EVAP system is slow to clear along with the EGR system.

What is the obd2 drive cycle for 2001 tracker

Drive cycles are done by repair shops, not vehicle
owners & drivers

Not much needs a drive cycle

Repair Shops don't road test or even have that data
sometimes & don't care,so they tell you all that non
sense. They just don't have the ability to resolve a
problem, the very reason you go there in the first place

Drive cycles are in factory service manuals & similar
info in repair shop data base ,if they have that, otherwise
they don't do much there but change oil & tires

Drive cycle

Generally speaking, the cycle must include 50-100 miles of both city and highway driving when the engine is at normal operating temp. The cycle can be done in one session or over several days.

Chevrolet tracker 2001 - started driving so that

Run a vacuum test. Start motor and try to rev a little. If the vacuum drops it could be a plugged cat or muffler, some type of exhaust restriction. Vacuum should pull steady at 15 to17 inches at idle. This is just one possibility.
