For some reason my Expedition 2004 Sun Roof Leaks when washing or rains. It will get wet underneath on the frame in front of the drivers visor and on the drivers side, and passenger side on the lining just below each side of the sun roof and can see it drip heavily down the hand grips on each side.
I've seen where someone says it is likely the drain vents are clogged in the where the sun roof meets the frame in front where it closes. Is this true or is it something else?
You have 2 drains in the front that go down the a pillars and dump near the fenders.
The rear usually go down the B pillar or C pillar and out thebottom near the rocker panel.
Blow them out from the top with compressed air and make sure you have air flow at the exits.. Open the roof to see drain holes in the four corners.

1 is the drain hoses
remember, the seal around the moon roof glass is not desgned to be totally water proof. It's designed to stop 90% of the water flow. The drains are designed to manage the water that does get by and divert it down the drain tubes.
Sometimes, parking up hill or downhill will cause the leak to be worse. It depends on how good the drain tubes go "downhill" and how long they are. Parking facing down hill is usually better. Shorter drain runs.

i have the same problem in my 2002 vw polo. The leak only happens in heavy rain not so much light rain. It leaks on the gear box a bit and also the drivers seat which doesnt leave a pleasant look. I hadnt driven my call for a whole week and when i entered it today there was a very damp atmosphere.
Thanks for this information. I will perform this function now that I know there are drain tubes that must be clogged up.
