The bell that sounds off when you open the door

Oh wow, I bet that drives you insane. The only reason I can think of it doing that is if the door switch located in the lock mechanism has malfunctioned.

Chances are good that you will have to replace the locking mechanism, BUT, sometimes the electrical switch in the mechanism gets dirty and sticks.

This can often be corrected by performing the following:
1. Thoroughly spray the door switches (on each door) with:

  • Cleaning spray - clear the sludge out of the mechanism - electronic contact cleaner, carb, brake, etc

  • Air, canned or even better, from a compressor

  • Spray lubricant - Dry lube
2. Open and close each door several times to work the lube into the mechanism
This is usually sufficient to clean the electrical & plunger mechanism inside the door switch.
If this doesn't work, you could remove the door panel and do the spray treatment from the inside also.

If this doesn't work, the switch may have to come out for repair (see below), or replacement.

The ignition bell wont stop ringing

You need to unplug the door harness one at a time to locate which door is causing the problem. Once the door is located, you can replace the switch which is located on the lock mechanism.

Door ajar light and auto locks keep going on and off while drivin

It sounds like there is a short somewhere. Either a bad ground, pinched wire going from the door to the fuse box, or a possibly a bare wire shorting out onto something. You say that the door adjar light and the door locks are affected. Check the door switch and make sure that it isn't broken, shorted out or sticking. Function test it. If you disconnect the door switch and take a test drive does the problem still exists? Yes? Disconnect the other side. Did that cure the problem? Yes? Replace as necessary. No? The problem isn't in your door switch(s). So that much has been ruled out. These are just some areas to start trouble shooting. At first I immediately thought "Door Lock Switch," but when you mentioned that the Door Ajar light keeps going on along with the light then it leads me away from the Controls and more towards the Door light Switch usually in the jam of the door, but you didn't mention the year, make and model, so location of the switch is obscure. If the door locks are switching on and off and the door adjar light is in harmany with it then make sure the door is secure, not loose when closed allowing the door adjar switch to break the connection. These are the areas I would investigate first. Is there a significant amount of slop in the door when you push and pull on the door like it isn't secure? These are some areas to take into consideration when trouble shooting.

Good luck. I hope this helps narrow things down for you.

2000 jeep cherokee interior lights wont turn off

I would check the door adjar switches. IF all the door adjar switches check okay, then check the head light switch .

Assuming the head light switch and door adjar switches are okay , Then there is a wiring problem. This is the worst case scenario .

Interior lights stay on and panic alarm keeps going off

You have a bad or sticking door adjar switch. The switch is located in the latch assembley inside the door. Most of the time you can take some WD40 and spray it into the latch, put a good amount on it,then open and close the door several times.
