Steering wheel is gone stiffer

Steering wheel will have to be removed and then replace the "Turn Signal Switch Assembly" under the steering wheel. Disconnect battery first before removing Steering Wheel.

you probably need to check your powersteering fluid. if it is low, try adding some, if it is full you need to replace the pump. Mine has went out in similar circumstances.

Your Malibu has Electronic assist steering.
Some malfunction occurred when the light came on.
May have been a loose connection. You will be able to steer the car if the malfunction re-appears. It will steer hard standing still but as you move it will get easier.
Best to take it to a shop and see if there are any codes stored to help locate the original power steering light malfunction.

These cars don't have a dipstick (really!). Using the steering wheel controls you can get to a page on the computer output (middle of speedo) that will give you an indication of oil level. Sorry I don't recall exactly which page it is, but the manual explains - I'm sure you can google it. If you do a normal journey (so the engine is up to temp) and then park on a level surface and wait a few minutes you get the true reading from this function. If you ask me it's all too clever for it's own good...

I had the same problem in me 2004 cdi e270. Check the voltage going to the battery when the car engine is on. Stedy charge of 12v should be going in to the battery, if the voltage is volitale say between 11v to 14v then it your Regulator (which is attached to the backend of the alternator). You need to change alternator and then unplug all the batteries over night and re plug them back again. The problem should go away.

I had a similar problem on my e270 cdi and fixed this by earthing the 3rd brake light . This has solved the problem . No more errors like : 3dr brake light and numbret plate light malfunction ...

if the power steering fluid is full and belts ok but, it happened suddenly, provably the power steering pump shaft was broken.
