superiormind, What you need to do is lubricate the latch that holds the hood down. Look on the left side of the latch and you will see where the cable attaches. Lubricate this area while you have someone pull and push the cable from inside the vehicle as the cable will sometimes seize up. You may have to move the cable from the outside as well. Once this is done you should have no problem closing and locking the hood. Good luck with this.
You should see three star screws, Remove these and the motor should come off. Check the plastic plugs in the motor and replace with plugs or ball bearings, pack with wheel bearing grease. You may have a defective window regulator. To remove. using a /14 inch punch punch out the rivits and replace with 1/4 nuts and bolts. Drill out the aluminum inserts using 1/4 drill. When replacing the regulator do not over tighten the bolts holding in the glass.
Wil it work at the door switch or not at either switch? If not make sure you have power and ground to the motor in up and down positions. if so suspect the motor. Also the cable operated regulators break and will not let the window go up or down
