Unlock all doors, foot on brake, all doors closed. Cycle key quickly but carefully on-off appr 10 times until the car honks one time.
Do not turn the key far enough to start the car, just to the 'on' position so the dashboard lights up.
When the horn honks, open and close the driver's door, press any remote button and that's it.
Program another remote? Quickly open and close the driver's door again and push a button on the 2nd remote. That's it.
When you're done, remove the key and the horn should honk 3 times. You're all set.
Sometime it takes more than 10 on-offs to set program mode. Open/close the door, lock/unlock etc, wait 10 minutes, then try again
dear .if you use key to open ,then you hold key it will open all doors locks and windows ,so , insert key again then move little try to close and hold ,check if key is move smoothly, this case need to replace driver door key cylinder
Looks like that you have a faulty door lock actuator that's why it's not responding with the remote. If the actuator is faulty it tends to trip, sometimes will open sometimes won't. Using the key will surely lift the locks upward and by then the actuator can work again.
Have the door lock actuator replaced and you'll be good.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
Get into your passport and unlock all doors. Leave drivers door open. Put key into ignition. Turn to ON (not start), then OFF three times within 5 seconds. Close and open the drivers door twice. Turn key to ON then OFF 5 times within 5 seconds. Close then open the drivers door. Press either the lock or unlock button on the remote. Doors will lock then unlock. Press the button again. Doors will lock then unlock again. Close door to finish programming. If it doesnt work, try it again but turn the key faster. You have to do it all pretty quick, but I had it done on the second try.
1.Insert key in ignition and pull out 2. Within 5 seconds, insert the key in the ignition and pull out again. 3. Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver's door twice, then insert and remove the key from the ignition again. 4.
Within 40 more seconds, close and open the driver's door twice, then
insert the key in the ignition and close the driver's door. 5. Turn ignition switch from LOCK to ON to OFF three times, leaving the key on for one second and off for one second each time. 6. Remove the key from the ignition lock.
The doors will lock and unlock themselves at about 2 second intervals.
The number of times that the doors lock is the number of remotes that
are programmed into the car. If the car locks/unlocks 5 times, there are no codes registered.
1st thing to try is spray wd-40 (available at any parts or hardware store, even grocery stores) into the key hole. Give it a few generous shots, work the key gently back and forth, DO NOT force the key! Spray again if necessary. This almost always frees up the lock mechanism. countrycurt0

1) Unlock all doors from driver's door while it is open. The driver's door is the only door to remain open during this process! 2) Turn the key from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the eighth turn ending in RUN. All the doors will lock and unlock if program is successful. 3) Turn key OFF and remove key from ignition. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the remote. (Press sliding door or rear hatch and it will open!) 4) If door locks do not respond, wait several seconds and press button again. If doors still fail to respond, try repeating steps (1-3).
