'01 Escape V-6 PCV valve is harder to do. I read other articles on how to do it, many good, some bad. I removed the "appearance cover" to see it better only. I removed the air intake hose and air filter housing to get some working room. I used a flashlight to get a better look at it. The hose attached to the PCV valve is joined together in pieces. When I pulled to remove this hose, the last little piece stayed connected to the PCV valve on the engine. I used a 9" long nose plier and turned the PCV valve and the little piece of hose counterclockwise and it came off. I cleaned the little piece of hose and attached it to the new PCV valve before reinstalling. I then inserted the new valve with piece of hose attached and turned it clockwise with the long nose pliers and made sure it was snug before I put everything back together.

2002 4.6l v8 ford explorer limited edition pcv valve location

so the pcv valve is on the driver's side of the engine master cylinder this is the back firewall. and if you look real close you can see it it's that little blue piece of plastic. that is the actual pcv valve so from the front of the engine you want to bring your arm.

Location of the pcv valve on 2011 Ford Explorer

The PCV valve is located 60 degrees from the driver side. Under the intake manifold coming off the center. Just about a blocks length of distances there is a Z-connector running down the side of the firewall cover. Once you locate the rear motor arm move directly down (horizontally) to the female extender. Open the cover and press lightly with strong mussels on the clamp hoses. Release the rear bumper and jiggle the left arm firmly until the latch reconnects. Disconnect the latch again. The PCV valve should be in plain sight now. It's nearly impossible to local on a rainy day and just as easy when the suns outs puns outs. The Dealership swears the Part # Z-SPARTA1 fits the 2011 models, however, check with your local emissions office to ensure road safety compatibility.

Locate the PCV Valve for replacement?

Hi Gary:
The PVC valve will be at the engine end of a piece of tubing that connects to the air intake. Sometimes they are fitted in a rubber bushing through the rocker arm cover.

I have oil blowing out of the filler tube when I remove the cap on my 2008 Chevy Colorado what could be the problem

It's most likely due to a clogged PCV valve or clogged/kinked PCV hose. I'll include a video showing PCV system operation.
I've seen this symptom many times on various engines, and the PCV valve was usually clogged/defective. A clogged PCV valve results in crankcase pressure build-up and fumes/oil exiting places on the engine that it shouldn't. A severely clogged PCV often makes oil leak/exit out of the dipstick, even with dipstick in place.
The good news is... if the PCV valve is clogged/defective, the "cure" is a very cheap fix. Usually less than $5.
PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation, btw.

But note that on some engines (those where the oil filler opening is directly above the rocker arms/valvetrain) it is normal to have a small amount of oil "spray" come out, as the rocker arms are dispersing oil thru their oil passage hole on top.

(Whenever posting vehicle questions, always please add the engine size/type. It helps in more accurate diagnosis.)

Where is the pcv valve at the engine ford explorer sport 99

PCV Basics
PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation.
All car engines have a PCV valve and it is located on top of the motor's valve cover. There is a vacuum line attached to it. It pulls out of the valve cover and if you shake it, you should hear a marble knocking inside it. If you shake it and don't hear anything, it's bad. It costs less than 5 bucks to replace.

Location
* 4.0L is located in the valve cover near the brake booster
* 5.0L is located behind the intake manifold (engine rear)

NOTE-Most people that are asking actually want to know not only where is it but also how do you get at it to replace it.

Often answers say that you need to dismantle the intake manifold to get to it.
This is a major and unnecessary approach, for example, on the 2000 Explorer with a 5.0 V8

Below is an additional suggestion on how to access a PCV valve on an 2000 5.0 V8 Explorer

The PCV valve is on the rear of the intake manifold (the intake manifold is also on top of the crankcase so PCV valve has direct access to crankcase)

To replace valve and/or its bushing:
  • Disconnect one battery terminal, unbolt/unplug the PCM cable (Powertrain Control Module connector located on the firewall) and firewall ground connection, depress underneath tab and slide the main cable connector (located to the right of PCM connector) off its mount.
  • Move the cables to the right and now you can easily reach down behind the intake manifold to the PCV valve
  • Service valve and its bushing if needed, reverse actions to reassemble
Hope this helped (remember comment and rated this). Good luck.

Pcv valve replacement

The PCV valve is not removable from the valve rocker arm cover. The PCV valve and rocker arm cover must be replaced as an assembly.

Pcv valve

This is a ***** trust me I done it, I have the same car. Don't unless the valve has stoped working even if it has its not a big deal its just an emissions control device. you need a black rubber grommit, the pcv vavle and a new piece of small black hose with small metal clamp. If you go to a dealership they have special pices you can buy to make it easier. When doing this the grommit and hose might as well be replaced also they are small and inexpensive parts readiley available, just dont drop the old or new peices or push the old grommit into to itake maifold like I did. Peace

PCV Valve

The PCV valve is located directly under the fuel rail on the driver's side, right behind your valve cover. Should be very easy to spot if you know what it looks like and you're looking right in that location.

Hope this helps :)
